as far as I know there isn't, this is a pest for me also, the only way I

Hi list, is there some way to have my iphone make a noise when the apple
logo comes up when I turn it on? I have a tendancy to either press the
on button for too short or too long of a time. The only way I know is
when voiceover says it's on. I have an iphone 4s with ios 6. it would be
nice to know that I've activated the thing before voiceover comes on.

RE: sound when turning on iphone

2012-10-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello,

Maybe a sound or vibration would be nice, but I don't think it's that big a
deal, after all, if you have Voiceover on it will speak when it's ready. On
my 4S that takes about 25 to 28 seconds and I understand the iPhone 5 is
faster. If you have it plugged in the double vibration only comes a couple
of seconds before Voiceover talks, so it's really of no great usefulness. If
for some reason you turn your phone off and on again and Voiceover does not
talk, just wait 30 or 40 seconds and then flick the Mute switch, if you get
a short vibration you know the phone is on and Voiceover for some reason
isn't talking, maybe because the volume is all the way down.

Regards,
Sieghard

Re: sound when turning on iphone

2012-10-15 Thread Marcy Weinberg
As far as I know, the only way we know the phone is on is when VoiceOver says,
VoiceOver on.

This is when the phone is not plugged in to the charger or the computer. If
the phone is plugged in, you will hear the familiar chimey kind of sound that
indicates the phone is now back on. The sound is the same one that you hear
when the phone is already on and you plug it in.

Hope this helps!

Subject: sound when turning on iphone

Hi list, is there some way to have my iphone make a noise when the
apple logo comes up when I turn it on? I have a tendancy to either
press the on button for too short or too long of a time. The only way
I know is when voiceover says it's on. I have an iphone 4s with ios 6.
it would be nice to know that I've activated the thing before voiceover
comes on.

RE: sound when turning on iPhone

2012-10-15 Thread Rose Combs
If possible, I turn off the phone and then connect it to the computer or a
wall charger to turn it back on. Otherwise, it takes a few attempts some
times to get it back.

If you hold your phone up to your ear and listen very carefully you can hear
some quiet noises as the phone boots. My sixty-year-old ears cannot hear
these sounds when in a noisy environment, but it works sometimes.

Something we can ask accessibility about as probably all of us have this
problem if we do not have any vision.
