Re: things to turn off to save battery
I have auto brightness turned off, screen brightness set to zero & blackout curtains over my bedroom window. My daughter & I just stepped into my walk in closet & shut the door. She was unable to see anything on my iPhone screen. I then turned on auto brightness & even in a dark room, brightness goes to 10% which allowed her to be able to see the screen. She was seen by an ophthalmologist in July & her vision in both eyes is 20/20. My daughter says that she keeps her screen brightness set to 40% all the time.Donna Then your husband must not see very well or you were in a bright place because in a dark room a sighted person can perfectly see the screen when brightness is at 0. There would be no point to having screen curtain if all you had to do is set brightness to 0%. Actually with brightness at 0% and in a place where it is not very bright it is perfectly easy to see what is on the screen. If you have brightness set to auto and you are in a dark room chances are that brightness could be at 0 or maybe just a few percent, the brighter it is where you are the more brightness you need to read the screen. I think it does completely dim the screen, which is why turning it to zero is a good thing. If mine is set to zero, my sighted husband cannot see anything. I never use the screen curtain, because I always have brightness at zero.Sent from my iPhoneOn Aug 26, 2023, at 5:56 AM, realman02 via VIPhone wrote:I thought that if you set brightness to 0 it would completely dim the screen. RE: things to turn off to save battery
I'll add that, to my surprise, locking the screen makes a huge difference. I had to replace my 12 mini's battery and, since then, I've forced myself to lock the screen, although it is a hassle, sometimes, to convince face ID to open it and I often have to enter my code manually, but it has made a big difference.
