Yes, it turned out they did have a major outage.  I heard it reported in the 
news last night.

There's some sort of major problem with a server Amazon runs. You may not 
actually have a problem once they fix their server. A bunch of sites are having 
trouble or are offline since they also made use of this server. You might just 
find that the problem goes away in a while.

I am trying to download my Kindle books to my IPad but I keep getting a message
