2014-11-06 Thread Gary Petraccaro
My friend is a Droid user and the phone works fine. She just chooses not to
do voice on her phone. The mailbox is always full and all contact is
through texting. I've detailed what happens when I try to text, and it
happens whether I use the locked screen to initiate the text or unlock the
phone. Did the reinstall and all that and after what I thought was an
improvement, things went back to the status quo ante. I called my carrier
and got a negative response to whether updating to a newer phone would help.

Hi Gary and Mary Anne,

I understand your frustration, but while a few people seem to have WiFi
issues, it does not to be anywhere near a large percentage. I have a 5S and
WiFi works as good as it always has. I have been using iO?S 8 throughout the
entire beta cycle since Beta 1 in June and while I agree that there are
problems and also feel that Apple should have had some of these fixed by the
time iOS 8 was released, I had no WiFi issues throughout the beta cycle. I
really wonder what the variables are which cause these issues. You also
mentioned a friend who is only using text messages. What issues does he have
with regular phone calls? Once again, I am not aware of major bugs here
except that for some people call display announcements don't seem to work or
not work consistently, but that doesn't affect the actual phone call.
As for Mary Anne, I have not seen any messages with information as to what
you have tried to fix this. Have you done a reset all network settings and,
if all else fails, a reinstall of iOS 8.1 including setting up as a new
device?

Sieghard

The salesman said I'd be having similar problems to what I have now. Yeah,

It is terrible. I must keep my cellular turned off or it will use my

that won't even work. I have to restart the phone before it works. I

frankly becoming fed up with the whole thing. I can't move apps around

them into folders for any organization. I get very few call

When is Apple going to get their act together and fix these problems?
Are they dumping their commitment to accessibility with the new regime
or what? Too busy working on stupid gadgets like that idiotic watch
instead of fixing all the broken parts in Ios8. I for one will start
learning to use my brother's android if this keeps up. I really like
what Apple used to be but am becoming very disillusioned since they are
taking so long to respond to these issues. Iphone cost a serious amount
of money to have become so dysfunctional. And I know many of my sighted
friends and coworkers who do not like this new iOs 8, so there are many
more issues than an accessibility going on here. Let's hope they do
something about this very soon.

In summary, those of you who are having wifi issues are not imagining

Mine's not a WIFI issue. It's a text message sending issue. It happens no
matter when or to whom I try to send text messages. My wifi issue is with
Fox News which cuts out after playing the Fox New station for 5-10 minutes.
I have no idea whether that's the phone since I never used it with 7. or 6.
It may well be my iPhone 5. I just can't justify having someone take me
back and forth to a store to see if a new iPhone will fix the problem--not
at Apple's pricing. Thanks for the offer of help, btw, much appreciated.

people and tell them what you've just said and how you feel.
I am in the same boat, though with different problems. It's gotten to the
point where I don't even carry the phone around with me anymore. I have a
friend who has decided to go voiceless in terms of phone contact and deals
solely in text messages and getting out only one of four has become more of a
waste of time than I can justify. For what it's worth, I called my carrier and
asked whether I should consider upgrading to the 6 or 6 plus.
The salesman said I'd be having similar problems to what I have now. Yeah, I
can listen to football games on the weekends and I have a clock app which I
enjoy hearing, but those are decidely secondary aspects of why I wanted this
phone.
Good Luck.

Subject: Re: wi-fi cutting out on 6+

I have I5 iPhone % and have been losing wireless since upgrade to IoS 8.
It is terrible. I must keep my cellular turned off or it will use my
data. Have to go to settings and turn wifi off and on again. Sometimes
that won't even work. I have to restart the phone before it works. I
have noticed lots of buffering too. There are androids in the house
without this problem. There are numerous problems with Ios *8.1 and I am
frankly becoming fed up with the whole thing. I can't move apps around
consistently, if at all. They are scattered everywhere and I can't put
them into folders for any organization. I get very few call
announcements. Many apps that used to work just fine are now broken.

In summary, those of you who are having wifi issues are not imagining
it. It's for real! It's not your router or your iPhone, or your carrier,
it's the half-fast operating system.

wi-fi cutting out on 6+

2014-11-04 Thread Billy Maynard

hi,

I know people have mentioned wi-fi dropping on there phones. I have noticed
soetimes inthe life church bible ap sometimes it'll say network unavalable.
and that I dont' have a offline bible downloaded. when I look at the status
bar it says wi-fi and the network I'm on. Is this an issue wth the phones
wi-fi or the bible ap? I've not noticed any problums on the computer about
my internet droping. I'm just not sure if it's the phone and it doesn't
notice it's not on the internet (like I said still shows wi-fi on the
status bar) So, not sure if this 's an ios 8.1 issue or bible ap issue.

Sometimes as much as I seem to know I still feel like a novice and ask
silly questions.

Thanks,
Billy Maynard
