Hi, An addendum to my earlier call for more to join me in reporting this broken accessibility. While it can be done within the app it can also be done via email as both methods end up at the same place. I know some might be more comfortable composing emails on their pc’s and the like so I’ll provide the email address just in case people would prefer to do that. I believe when this is done from within the app it includes information such as your model of phone, operating system and current version of the Bible app in use so if submitting be sure to include this for their information and edification as well. Well, if we don’t report it to the developer, it won’t be fixded. We pay our money same as anyone else and deserve to have the product work for us. Now I have taken to finding the edit field’s approximate screen location hover over it, toggle VoiceOver off with the power button tap on the field and it activates then I can turn VoiceOver back on and type into it. Hi Mickey,
Yes that is the correct app as I stated in my first message.
When in that app if you select one of their bible plans often
times after the daily reading there's a "talk it over" section
where you can post your thoughts on the reading for that day. It
is this specific edit field that is failing for me at least when
VoiceOver is in play. It worked just fine on my 11 Pro Max or at
least would respond to the double tap and hold which isn't the
standard gesture for activating an edit field but that did work.
However, on that 12 Pro Max nothing works for me. I know someone
who somehow can get his to work with much trial and error but by
me nothing but removing VoiceOver from the mix yields any result.

I have this problem using the 6S plus phone. I’ve
only been able to make the double tap and hold gesture work 1 or
2 times. It shouldn’t have to be that difficult to use, in my
opinion.

I thought about contacting Apple but feared that they'd dismiss
it as not being their problem since it's specific to an app that
isn't theirs but couldn't hurt maybe I'll try that. As far as I
am aware all settings are the same on both devices by me. Both
were set up as new. I've tried it with screen recognition and
image recognition turned on and off just for fun and it had no
impact whatsoever. If there are any other settings that might be
relevant you think I should check let me know.
It's my totally uneducated opinion that this might not be an
Apple thing specific to the 12 Pro Max as it hasn't manifested
with any other edit field throughout the OS or within this app
itself. For instance the edit field in their search or discover
tab works just fine it's just this one edit field in this one
area.
So the mystery just gets stranger and stranger.

When you’re doing one of the Bible plans, there’s a place where it says talk it over. When you double tap that, it doesn’t work so people are saying in order to make talk it over work, double tap and hold. I said that gesture doesn’t always work for me using a 6S plus phone. Hello Robin: are you talking about the Bible app from youversion? I’m trying to find the exact location so I can look at the edit field on my 10 S max. So if you could give some specific guidelines like which tab it isin I’m assuming it’s in one of the tabs where you communicate with people of course but it’s hard for me to find the exact spot you’re talking about. I don’t’ have comparable devices to test on, but is there any difference in the new settings on the device with the problem like the Image description or screen recognition? If those new settings are the same on both, then it sounds like a 12 pro max issue and perhaps a screen recording sent to Apple would help? Hey Robin: You might want to report this to you version so they can look at what’s going on. I haven’t seen that situation where the edit field works for some models but not others. I don’t have other models to test with. You might also let accessibility from Apple know about it too. Both phones are running version 14.3 of the operating system and the same version of the You Version Bible app. I am wondering if those who are smarter than I am or who are perhaps code writers might know what might make an edit field not responsive on a specific model of device as opposed to being universally broken. I’m trying to gather as much information as I can so that when I report that it is still broken perhaps if I give them something meaningful with which to work they might be less likely to swat me aside like an annoying fly. Hi, I have this same problem. How I get around it is do a double tap and hold on the edit field and then it will work. I don’t know hwy this happens, but that is how i fix it. Trouble with an edit field in the You Version Bible App
Hi, I hope this finds all happy and well. I write today because I’m having the strangest issue with an edit field within this app. Specifically in the bible plans area when one is in the talk it over area I am finding that the edit field for entering your thoughts activates just fine with a double tap on an iPhone 12 mini but simply won’t activate no matter what I do on an iPhone 12 Pro Max. Hi: Use the menu button which is on the top left corner of the screen. That will bring you to the main menu. Then click on My Plans. When you get to your plan, there will be a thing called devotional content. You have to doulbe tap on this to get it to read the contents of that plan on that day.
