RE: question how to remove apps from the apps libary?

2021-11-03 Thread chrisjudge1967
Hey Mich:

If you’ve already gotten this, please disregard.

1. Go to app library.

2. Swipe to the app you wish to delete.

3. Flick up with one finger to enter edit mode and double tap.

You should hear, started editing.

4. Double tap. You should hear a tripple tone. Next, swipe through the options.
You will be informed that deleting the app will also delete it’s data. Swipe to
the delete button and double tap to delete the app. Double tap on the done
button to exit edit mode.

Hi Mitch,

Once you turn on Edit mode, delete is available. Also, when you choose Remove
for an app on a screen other than App Library, you have the choices to remove
it from your home screen or delete it completely.

Some notifications and Alarms don't sound on my Apple Watch

2021-11-03 Thread Kathy Blackburn
Okay, my tech is old, and I'm not getting any younger, either. I have an iPhone
8 and an Apple Watch Series 4. The phone is running IOS 15.1, and the watch
updated to the most recent version night before last. Since I can answer calls
from my watch, I don't feel the need to keep the phone with me all the time.
Sometimes, however, I hear notifications on my phone that don't make it to my
watch.
A similar problem: on some days, my wake-up alarm rings on the watch; on other
days it rings on my phone. I've looked all through settings on both devices and
haven't found the secret to fixing either of these oddities. Thanks for any
suggestions.

If you simply took a photo with the back camera it would just be a photo. If
you had tapped the "Photo Viewer" button in the camera app the last photo is
what would have been displayed.

If you go into Photos I usually tap on the Album tab at the bottom and then go
into "Recent Photos" near the top, this displays all my pictures and I can then
start from the bottom again and find the latest photo which you can identify by
the date and time when it was taken since I assume you know roughly at what
time you took the photo.

Hi, Group.

I have iPhone8 with iOS15.1

I took a picture of first page of my passport but I can not find it in Photos.
Actually, I don’t know what to look for, is it screen shot, selfi, live photo
or what? I never had this problem in earlier versions of iOS.

How can I find it, please?

Thanks!

Subject: iOS 15 Broke My Weight scale

Hi All:
Well I”ve been pretty fortunate until now. I purchased the Beats blu scale some
years ago and although it has been long gone from the App Store, it has
continued to work fairly well. I decided yesterday to update to iOS 15, and
that’s the end of that for my poor scale app.
The scale works wonderfully of course, but absolutely no good to me.
So what are people currently using that works with iOS 15? I thought about
purchasing the Withings scale which has been around a long time and probably
still gets updates, but I’m open for comments on that or other options.
I do need to resolve this soon so all suggestions welcome. Accessibility is
more important than price, and the most important is that perhaps it’s still
getting actual updates and might be supported a while.

Re: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-03 Thread Duane Steele
Hello Diane, and others on this list,

Regarding Westminster Chimes, I have found that the only way to get the chimes
to ring consistently is to be sure your phone is unmuted. When the phone is
muted, the chimes will still vibrate so you know they're working if the phone's
in your pocket. But they won't ring unless the phone's unmuted. That's been my
experience, and I hope it helps.

Peace & Blessings,

I just submitted a new build of Westminster Chimes to the App Store!

This address the problem of the chimes not playing in iOS 15. Now we just have
to wait for Apple to approve it.

Part of the problem was that the previous version was not registering for
anything other than Sounds. That no longer works. Apple wants the end user to
have total control over their notification experience. So, by default,
Westminster Chimes will show Banners, and show on the lock screen.

For the best experience, I suggest that you go into Settings > Westminster
Chimes > Notifications, and turn off “Show in Lock Screen” and “Banners”. Leave
“Notification Center” and “Sounds” turned on.

Thank you for your patience, and for your business!

RE: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-03 Thread Malcolm Parfitt
Hello Diane,

Here's how I have mine configured so I hope this helps.

Go into Settings on your iPhone.

Next go to Notifications.

Scroll down to Westminster Chimes Full and double-tap.

Allow notifications is set to on. Double-tapping toggles this on/off.

Under the heading Always Deliver Immediately I have Time Sensitive
Notifications set to on, again this is a toggle item.

Under the heading Alerts I have:

Allow On Lock Screen disabled.

Allow in Notification Centre deselected.

Allow As Banner disabled.

Sounds On.

Badges off.

Under the heading Lock Screen Appearance I have:

Show Previews set to never.

You will need to double tap Show Previews to access its list of options, in
here double tap Never to select it.
Double tap Back to exit this screen and Back once again and you're done.

When you launch Westminster Chimes you have some options you can choose from.

Firstly you have to set Play Chimes to on.

Swiping right you have Chimes Style. You can choose between:

Westminster, Wittington, St. Michael's, Canterbury, Winchester and Spoken.

By default I think it's set to Westminster. Double tap on Westminster to
select a different chime style if you prefer.

Swiping right is Volume, double tap to reveal its options. Mine is set to
high. Note chime volume is relative to your device's volume.

All Day on mine is selected. If you double tap here you can select a start and
end time for your chimes. If you have all the quarters, the half hour and hour
chimes set to on there is a 12 hour limit for the chimes to play. You can
increase this by deselecting 15 and 45 minute and it will now chime for 21
hours. If All Day is selected this limit does not apply.

If you continue to swipe right you have a number of options you can toggle
on/off. Under the heading Play The Quarters:

Chime The Hour, Play The Quarters, On The Hour [00], Quarter Past [:15], Half
Past [:30] Quarter Till [:45].

If I remember correctly the free version of the app does not play when the app
is not running. The full version plays when the app is exited farom the App
Switcher and when the device is locked.

Hope this has helped you.

Malcolm

Rearranging Share-Sheet-Options?

2021-11-03 Thread Fazil M.
Hi, Group.

I share things with a handful of apps only but I have to swipe a lot on
share-sheet in order to get to anyone of them.

Can I rearrange share-sheet options, please?

If yes, how can it be done, please?

Thanks!

There must have been an update recently, because the very next time I

problems I reported a few days ago were gone. File Browser now opens all
my network shared folders and volumes as it always has.

Re: Westminster Chimes Full updated for iOS15 compatibility.

2021-11-03 Thread Diane Giannetti
My current settings are as follows:
In settings, I go to notifications. Notifications are on. There is a heading
that says always deliver immediately. Then it says Time sensitive notifications
on. Then I go into alerts. Selected Allow
On lock screen. Selected Allow in notification Center. And they both say
button after that. Then then it says, allow on banner, sounds on. Then we go to
a heading called an ounce. Announ announce notifications on.
Then we go to heading called lock screen appearance. Then it says show previews
always default. Then it says something about grouping automatic. It will not
chime on the lock screen but it will chime when the screen is unlocked. Also
how can I get rid of the notifications on my phone in the notification Center
and also on my watch.

RE: What is the pairing key on the K780?

2021-11-03 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Ann.

If I remember, I think it's FN+F1. Hold those for a second or two, and I think
you'll be in pairing mode. You have up to three devices that can be paired to
it.

Let me know if that works.

trying to pair a Logitech K780 keyboard to an iPhone, but I can't figure out
what is the key to activate pairing. I thought it was the number 1 on the
keyboard, but that doesn't seem to do it.

Can someone please clue me in?

Thx,

Honey well and nest, which thermostats are more accessible?

2021-11-03 Thread Cris Ali
Hi folks,
I know that the topic of accessible thermostats has been discussed on this list
countless number of times. From the past discussions I understood that both
Honeywell and google nest make reasonably accessible thermostats. However, each
company makes several models which makes it hard to determine which model is
the most accessible. Needless to say that technology is changing rapidly, and
because of this, some models are no longer available while newer models are
being pushed into the markets.
My thermostat is no longer reliable. Therefore I hope I can get your opinions,
based on your experience, which is more accessible, honeywell or nest, and
which model? Does the installation need a technician or it can be done by any
handyman?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Actually, I don’t know what to look for, is it screen shot, selfi, live photo

How can I find it, please?

I just submitted a new build of Westminster Chimes to the App Store!

This address the problem of the chimes not playing in iOS 15. Now we just
have to wait for Apple to approve it.

Part of the problem was that the previous version was not registering for
anything other than Sounds. That no longer works. Apple wants the end user
to have total control over their notification experience. So, by default,
Westminster Chimes will show Banners, and show on the lock screen.

For the best experience, I suggest that you go into Settings > Westminster
Chimes > Notifications, and turn off “Show in Lock Screen” and “Banners”.
Leave “Notification Center” and “Sounds” turned on.

Thank you for your patience, and for your business!

You can Also ask Siri something like show the most recent photo I took. You
can then find the relevant photo and double tap on it and then share from
there. And yes you can share it from photo and video viewer

RE: What is the pairing key on the K780?

2021-11-03 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Remember that the number one key on the number row is the second key from the
left of that row,

The ` ~ is to the left of number 1.

And you need the fn key which is either first or second from bottom left corner
from the space bar.

Subject: Some notifications and Alarms don't sound on my Apple Watch

The FN key is the second one from the left on
the bottom row. Hold that down plus the number
one key for a few seconds. The keyboard will
then be in pairing mode. Use the Bluetooth
settings in your phone to pair with the
keyboard. You'll have to type in a number on the
keyboard which will appear when you indicate
that you want to pair with it. This needs to be
done pretty quickly to complete the pairing.
Thankfully, you need not do this very often.
You'll find it an excellent keyboard once it's
properly paired with the devices you want to use
it with. There are three buttons you can use to
switch between devices. They are near the top of
the board above the six pack of keys if I remember correctly.

Re: Honey well and nest, which thermostats are more accessible?

Thanks Richard,
Which Honey well do tyou have? There are quite few of them. Does the app
control all the features of the thermostat?
Cheers

The physical thermostat isn't something I would want to deal with on my own,

So, the real question for me is, is the app they use accessible.

Hi folks,
I know that the topic of accessible thermostats has been discussed on this list

Honeywell and google nest make reasonably accessible thermostats. However, each

the most accessible.

First, plug it in and then turn it off immediately. Once you plug a
phone in that is powered off, it powers up… Annoying yes.

You can go into the settings at the top of settings and double tap on
your name.

Then, swipe over to iCloud and double tap.

Now, swipe over to iCloud backup and toggle it off.

If it asks what you want to do with the backed up info, if it offers a
chance to just leave it on the phone, do that.

I’m not sure exactly how to get stuff off your iCloud that has backed up
already.

Someone here does I’m sure, or apple accessibility.

Subject: iCloud space

Well, here is one for you. I have gotten a new phone and am still
trying to decide if I want it. I have copied all the apps and things like
that on to the new phone. Yesterday my husband noticed that the battery
level was low, so he plugged it in. Early this morning I wandered
downstairs and discovered that it was turned on and plugged in. Of course
it had tried to back up and unload all of its stuff to iCloud. Now there is
a message saying that there is not enough space in my iCloud account to back
up everything on this phone and I should go to settings to manage my
account. First of all, I didn't even want this phone to back up to iCloud
because of not knowing if I am going to keep it. Second, how do I manage
this or get that phones stuff off my iCloud account. Thirdly, until I
decide whether or not I'm keeping this phone, it shall be powered off before
charging. Can anyone solve my problem? Thanks for any help.

Re: Trouble with Bank of America app

2021-11-03 Thread 'Nancy Badger' via VIPhone
And when I log into my Bank of America app, I have to remember that the field
where you type in your password makes a sound like something is wrong. It makes
that sound each time you type in a letter. However, the letter is actually
going in correctly. It is confusing using voiceover. But if you don’t pay
attention to the sound it is making and you assume that each letter is going
in, it can be done. Hope this helps.

Re: What is the pairing key on the K780?

2021-11-03 Thread Michael Feir
My wife Sara has a K780 and just checked this. The FN key is the second one
from the left on the bottom row. Hold that down plus the number one key for
a few seconds. The keyboard will then be in pairing mode. Use the Bluetooth
settings in your phone to pair with the keyboard. You'll have to type in a
number on the keyboard which will appear when you indicate that you want to
pair with it. This needs to be done pretty quickly to complete the pairing.
Thankfully, you need not do this very often. You'll find it an excellent
keyboard once it's properly paired with the devices you want to use it
with. There are three buttons you can use to switch between devices. They
are near the top of the board above the six pack of keys if I remember
correctly.

Re: What is the pairing key on the K780?

2021-11-03 Thread Ann Byrne

Is the #1 key the first one in the row, or is there a key to its left?
At 03:25 PM 11/3/2021, you wrote:

The FN key is the second one from the left on
the bottom row. Hold that down plus the number
one key for a few seconds. The keyboard will
then be in pairing mode. Use the Bluetooth
settings in your phone to pair with the
keyboard. You'll have to type in a number on the
keyboard which will appear when you indicate
that you want to pair with it. This needs to be
done pretty quickly to complete the pairing.
Thankfully, you need not do this very often.
You'll find it an excellent keyboard once it's
properly paired with the devices you want to use
it with. There are three buttons you can use to
switch between devices. They are near the top of
the board above the six pack of keys if I remember correctly.

Let me know if that works.

trying to pair a Logitech K780 keyboard to an

to activate pairing.  I thought it was the
number 1 on the keyboard, but that doesn't seem to do it.

Can someone please clue me in?

Re: Honey well and nest, which thermostats are more accessible?

2021-11-03 Thread Richard Turner
We have a Honeywell thermostat that uses the Total Connect Comfort (tcc) app
which is completely accessible.
The physical thermostat isn't something I would want to deal with on my own,
but one could mark it to adjust up or down.
So, the real question for me is, is the app they use accessible.

Re: File Browser Problem Fixed

2021-11-03 Thread Steve Matzura
Hard to explain, except that there are fewer controls and the ones that
exist are mostly openable menus where you choose other things after you
find the file or directory on which you wish to operate. I don't know
what else to say except that it's all in the feel of the thing.
Essentially, both appplications offer the same set of abilities--to open
and move files around on your local network, but like anything else,
it's all about how it feels to actually use one application over another
that does exactly the same thing as that other one.

2021-11-03 Thread Noe Villeda
Hello list,

I hope someone can help. I know someone who just upgraded her phone and is
trying to set up Facebook on the new phone. Apparently, she has two
Facebook profiles, and is unable to log in to the correct profile, is there
a way to recover the password for Facebook from her iPad, which shows the
correct profile?

We have a Honeywell thermostat that uses the Total Connect Comfort (tcc) app

The physical thermostat isn't something I would want to deal with on my own,
but one could mark it to adjust up or down.
So, the real question for me is, is the app they use accessible.

RE: question how to remove apps from the apps libary?

2021-11-03 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
As Mich pointed out this did not work for him because he had screen time turned
on and somehow also turned on the setting which prevents apps from being
deleted.
Thisi used to be under Settings > General > Restrictions a long time ago and
basically allows parents to set this up so their kids can't delete apps (or
purchase them).

Once you turn on Edit mode, delete is available. Also, when you choose Remove
for an app on a screen other than App Library, you have the choices to remove
