Re: [VoiceOps] Help Identifying Strange Tone

2016-06-22 Thread Justin Grow

I think you cracked the case! That is exactly how it is behaving. If I
immediately send the CNG, I never see the flutter tone.

I've heard that before when dialing a fax machine when sharing the primary voice

fax machine.
My guess is to save a voice caller's ears from getting the CNG tone whereas a
fax machine would detect the line as answered and would start to send the tones
causing the receiving fax machine to quit "ringing" and answer.

The numbers are all fax lines and do get the proper CED after this tone. I can't
find any matching tone in the T.30 ITU-T rec. As best I can figure, it's 400Hz
with a 0.03s period on/off cycle, played 1s on 2s off. Listen at the below link.

[VoiceOps] Help with ATT/Southwestern Bell Test Calls

2016-04-20 Thread Justin Grow

Hi Y'all,
I'm testing some updated routing in the Dallas, TX area. If anyone on list has
ATT landlines in LATA 552 that can place some calls to the below numbers and let
me know your results, it would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to send
responses off-list.
These numbers should connect to a CID readback and echo line. 8178989608

I have a client running a T.38 fax platform. The platform is not at all

Operations Management friendly, so when problems occur, I use Wireshark and
dumpster dive through the T.38 over RTP to see what went wrong. It is a rather
labor intensive operation. I am wondering if anybody knows of a tool that could
help this process -- something along the lines of Palladion (now Oracle
Communications Operations Monitor) or Empirix Hammer, but with the ability to
automatically drill down into T.38 signaling to diagnose cause of Fax failure?

Thanks,

[VoiceOps] BellSouth Test Calls

2015-12-15 Thread Justin Grow
BellSouth subscribers have been having issues connecting to some of our
numbers in Florida. I have made some routing adjustments and want to
retest, however I don't have a BellSouth line and haven't been able to get
a hold of the original callers having the issue.

Anyone on list have a Bell South line that would be willing to place a
handful of calls to the below test numbers?

19545192486
19545192496
19545192494

They should connect to caller-ID read back and echo line. If you're able to
place some calls, let me know your results.
