I know explaining a joke may kind of wreck it, but would you mind doing so anyway? 2 Chr is from the time of Israel ascendant, of course, and Ez. from much later; Ezekiel was active during the Exile, and he was preaching not in Israel but in Babylon. Ez is also one of the most important books in the Bible, and your quote 36:1-12 is one example of why: It's a sermon to the Israelites telling them in no uncertain terms that they _will_ be returned to Israel, and that the mountains of Israel _will_ once again be theirs. It is quite possible that Ezekiel, single-handed, was responsible for the remnant of the Israelites remaining a nation and not simply allowing themselves to be assimilated, as were the lost 10 tribes which were carried into exile earlier and apparently vanished. If it had not been for Ezekiel there might very well have been no post-Exile Judaism, and there would consequently be no Christianity -- or Islam -- today. A lot of people, upon reading the book of Ezekiel, come to the conclusion that Ezekiel was stark staring nuts. But if you keep in mind the milieu in which he was working, then his crazy talk becomes comprehensible as the powerful preaching which it actually was. Richard

Howdy Stephen, The joke will be on Edom ( Ez.36:5) just as it was on Edom ( 2 Chr.20:23) . As it happened in Jehosaphat's time, so will it happen again ( the valley of decision.. the valley of Jehosaphat. Ez. prophecy in 36: 1-12 has NOT yet happened. What Ez. describes does not fit with the return of a remnant of Judah after 70 years of exile.The kingsdom was not restored at that time and remains unrestored to this day. Yet Ez states that it will. Who are these people that call themselves Zionists living today in the nation they call Israel? They did not celebrate the year of Jubilee in 1998. Richard

BlankHowdy Vorts, Can anyone explain the nysterious repositioning and rapid buildup of the Russian nuclear forces ? Granted that Russia has a siege mentality ever since Napoleon went ice fishing in the Volga, can this simple reason explain the causes and effect ? Shades of the children of Esau and Jacob with a sprinkling of Japeth's Gog and Magog kinfolk. This ain't the Russian opera where music is in concert and harmony. The Russian physicist's community remain an advanced technological bunch which may explain the seeming confidence of Putin. Is there any evidence of hyper-advanced weaponry possessed by Russia that points toward neutralizing atomic weapons of the other Nuke nations? It would seem that during a Mex standoff in the Dime Box, people would be careful when everyone has a loaded shotgun.. unless.. err.. well.. one of the drunks likes to pose as the sherriff and thinks he can reason with other drunks cuz he has the scariest weapon. They used to do that just to probe the defenses, but we have Raptors here now, though so they can't even tell when we've picked them up now without a close up social call. They have backed off on offering leases on adjacent offshore tracts with this discovery.. some Texas locals believe they hit the mother lode down there.. also some rumbling of another field off Australia that can be the grandaddy to them all.
