I mean the copy editing I did was a lot of work. Jean-Paul does a lot work
with the authors, which is like herding cats.

Editing experimental papers is not so hard, but the theory papers are
difficult because in many cases I have no idea what they mean. This is kind
of like machine translation, where I am the machine. I do not think I have
introduced errors because the authors check my work.

Some authors prefer not to have me copy edit their papers. You can probably
tell. Those are the ones with a lot of non-native speaker, non-idiomatic
English left in them.

I have now indexed all papers, here:

This is a handy old-fashioned index which many people prefer. You can use
the browser control-S search function:

[Vo]: Early DARPA witness to the E-CAt

2016-07-07 Thread a.ashfield
Interesting post on e-catworld.com that talks about DARPA witnessing an
E-Cat test giving a COP 25.

Also an early blue light and a TED talk by Focardi in the comments
.

Interesting post on e-catworld.com that talks about DARPA witnessing an E-Cat
test giving a COP 25.

Relevant quote from the cite:

"I know that Tony Tether, former head of DARPA, saw a demo. He said if it was a
hoax, it was a damn good one. Folks at NRL saw a couple of demos. When they
began asking questions, Rossi left in a huff."

Bottom line- everyone agrees that:

1) Rossi can put on a "damn good hoax"
2) He did not get a cent of funding from DARPA
2) When he is caught cheating, he leaves in a huff
3) DARPA, DoD, and NRL are very interested in LENR because the technology is
valid and has military use
4) They have not funded Rossi because Rossi has never demonstrated that his
version of LENR is valid

Nothing new to see here.

Note that with a modern browser, you can send someone a link to a specific
page within a document. For example, this paper is in the proceedings:

156. Asami, T., et al., *Study on the Phenomenon Reported "Neutron
Generation at Room Temperature in a Cylinder Packed with Titanium Shavings
and Pressurized Deuterium Gas".* J. Condensed Matter Nucl. Sci., 2016. *18*.

It is on Acrobat page 29. You can have the browser download the whole
document and then jump to p. 29 with this link:

http://lenr-canr.org/acrobat/BiberianJPjcondensedq.pdf#page=29

In my database, I now have all papers in all issues of the JCMNS linked to
individual pages. The database program generates links in this format. I
also linked some of the proceedings papers I have in book form.

If this is the same series of tests I heard about at that time, then it was
not Rossi's hoax. Someone else provided the instruments and location.
Evidently, Rossi was present during this test but during other tests he was
in Italy.

I could be wrong but I do not think he was asking for money from DARPA.

He often leaves in a huff when he is not caught, or when the experiment
fails drastically as it did with Jim Dunn.

Yup.

As I said, I have not heard that he asked them. I do not follow his career
closely. I agree his demonstrations have not been good, but this was one of
the better ones.

What's with all the cross-posts? I thought it was considered poor form
to cross-post to a huge list -- makes it too easy for people on Vortex
to accidentally respond to people they've never heard of before.

As to the "interview", Rossi should be posting in the forums over on
4chan. He'd fit right in there.

I was interested to see that SKINR was unable to replicate Celani using
sensitive calorimetry. Quite a thorough paper. Sad to see.

They wrote: "No excess heat was observed in a calorimeter of a sensitivity
<10 mW when running either the initial or later test protocols during ∼ 200
days of testing."
