It was largely because of your insight that I did purchase
PFS. I bought PFS/3. Then sometime later, through a newsgroup
posting, I accidentally learned that GREED had an update/upgrade
for those registered. I know that because I had version 3, the
upgrade/update, which fixed a bug or two and added some abili-
ties, I got the download for free. I do not recall what their
site said for those who had version 2.

What I have found is that I should, from time to time, refor-
mat the disk/partition to start from scratch, after copying
everything to another disk/partition, and, then copying the
stuff back, after reformatting, I have less errors with PFS.
The other thing which seems to work is by fully deleting my
cache files (URL history files and cookies). I believe that,
because PFS only deals with certain minimum sized blocks of
information, the frequent use of the cache, as well as E-Mail
cache, tends to sometimes try to force PFS to deal with blocks
of data smaller than what makes it comforable.

I wish there were some sort of quick fix that is permanent,
but there is not. I still feel safer using PFS for those disks/-
partitions which are often accessed, added to and deleted, as
the ones used in the connection with going on the Internet, than
when using FFS. To this date, since using PFS, I have not had
the sort of foulups I had when relying on FFS.

Anyway, I do not want to "beat a dead horse."

   Stay well.

 Julian.

Just rename 'download.php' to 'download.lha' and go ahead!
This is not Voyager's problem, but a php-script I was told.

RTFM for YAM? :)

(it should be V:V file:///%s but IMO that's the worst way of doing it since,
as mentioned before on the list, V doesn't respect any arguments when
started a second time)

go in VPdf plugin setting and change the option in: FIT IN PAGE or after the
loading of pdf file, push "-" on the keyboard to reduce magnify.

a file called "download.php" is saved. actually it should be called

is this a server problem or a v3 problem?

I upgraded from 2 to 3 because I thought it would resolve the
problems with 2, certainly it is far less frequent but it is not
non-existant. Are we talking about the occasional "bad anode block"
error?

I think it is a PFS issue, I've only had problems with Cache and large
data directories such as MD2's. In my (uninformed!) opinion it seems
to be related to writing (and removing), lots of files from the same
directories/subdirectories.

Even so, the problem is so rare, data loss so minimal (a couple of
emails usually), and easily recovered by copying to a spare partition,
formatting and copying back that for the speed increase alone I could
not even contemplate using FFS.

On the very rare occasions that PFS has thrown a wobbler on me it has
always been clear what was to blame. Never had any sort of problem
with it otherwise though. :) (BTW, this is PFS2, not 3.)

V was pretty much the only thing running at the time, and the fault
was with one of it's cache files. Whether this is a repeatable bug or
an unfortunate glitch I cannot say. I've never known V to nuke PFS
since I ran V2.95 over a V3.0 cache area once and it went crazy...

If nobody else has a problem with that site, I guess I was just
unlucky. I don't care to try it again myself... :-/

Hi all,

Just a quick note to say that with both the full V and the ß
http://www.heart1062.co.uk fails miserably :(

It loads the left hand frame but not the navigation bar at the top or
the main page.

At least with Aweb it shows a "flash not able to be run - goto non
flash site" page. Not that aweb does much more. cant send emails
from it as it doesn't show the email address due to JS stuff.

I have no idea what JS V is falling over but hopefully Matt will ;-)

[voyager] Vpdf - not working!!

2001-07-01 Thread Barbara Giller

Hello,

recently I discovered that my Vpdf-plugin does not work properly. That
means the pdf-document is recognized, the plugin is started, the
document is loaded and then there is a blank page and Voyager says:
'Ready'. So I downloaded the latest Version of Apdf, installed it
again, installed the Vpdf-plugin and tried again - it was the same. I
downloaded another pdf-document to view with Apdf - this worked. But
trying to view the same document with Voyager and the plugin did not work.
I use the Ghostscript:fonts directory for the pdf-fonts. Has anybody an idea
what I could have done wrong?

Thank you and best wishes,
