Just to confirm that after failing to build vpp for Centos 7, I switched to 
Ubuntu 14.04 as described in 
https://wiki.fd.io/view/VPP/Setting_Up_Your_Dev_Environment .

I was able to build and run vpp for Ubuntu 14.04 .

As best as I can tell, this is not a dependency problem.  It is most likely an 
issue with the vagrant/virtualbox file system implementation.

Another thing that I noticed that the build completes if you "vagrant ssh" into 
the VM and run "cd /vpp; make pkg-rpm".  So for now, I would recommend that as 
a workaround.

I was thinking about adding this one, but finally i decided not to, mainly to 
avoid bloating the toplevel Makefile.
As you noticed, you can simply do “make -C dpdk build-rpm”

This dpdk packages are development package, and they should not be the part of 
“official” distribution.
End users should not install them, as they will collide with official DPDK 
packages.
That’s why they are not in the same place with VPP packages.

As best as I can tell, this is not a dependency problem.  It is most 
likely an issue with the vagrant/virtualbox file system implementation.


Another thing that I noticed that the build completes if you "vagrant 
ssh" into the VM and run "cd /vpp; make pkg-rpm".  So for now, I would 
recommend that as a workaround.
