Hi Steph, are there any known issues running the vmware-server on a 2.6 kernel with applied vserver-patches? As VMWare has a totally differnt concept and is quite a normal application I dont thnik so. I run a vm-workstation here on a recent vserver-patched kernel without any problems Oli -- Diese Nachricht wurde digital unterschrieben oliwel's public key: http://www.oliwel.de/oliwel.crt Basiszertifikat: http://www.ldv.ei.tum.de/page72 smime.p7s Description: S/MIME Cryptographic Signature ___ Vserver mailing list Vserver@list.linux-vserver.org http://list.linux-vserver.org/mailman/listinfo/vserver

[Vserver] HowTo: VServer installation Fedora Core 5
Hi there, I've finished the FC5 HowTo modifications: http://linux-vserver.org/VServer+installation+Fedora+Core+5 Based on Daniels great work, I've dropped the from source explanations as his rpms work great already for a longer period and he supplies now also an x86_64 version. As to the HowTo I'd love someone to recheck for errors and let me know - as more then my own 4 eyes are welcome on this ;-) -- regards 'n greez, Guenther Fuchs (aka muh and powerfox) ___ Vserver mailing list Vserver@list.linux-vserver.org http://list.linux-vserver.org/mailman/listinfo/vserver

I have tried it and it worked (on vmware-workstation, though), vserver 2.0.1, 2.6.14 Debian kernel. If you have a fairly new kernel (as in newer than your vmware products), make sure you have the necessary vmware patches (from ftp.cvut.cz, not sure if these apply to vmware-server too, or only to vmware-workstation). ___ Vserver mailing list Vserver@list.linux-vserver.org http://list.linux-vserver.org/mailman/listinfo/vserver

[Vserver] ubuntu dapper vserver problem
I've installed linux-vserver on ubuntu dapper upgraded to the latest packages, using the uni-klu.ac.at kernel image (http://www2.uni-klu.ac.at/support/VServer). During creation of a vserver, I get the following message: The following problem(s) were encountered while verifying vshelper functionality: * The vshelper state-directory '/var/run/vshelper' does not exist; since it is created by 'make install', this indicates a serious problem with your util-vserver installation snipped The problem is that /var/run/vshelper is not created when util-vserver is installed. Neither are /var/run/vservers and /var/run/vservers.rev. When created manually, my vserver starts with no problems. But, these directories do not survive a reboot. They are being deleted, apparently on startup by some process which I've been unable to identify. Any clue as to what's going on would be welcomed. [Vserver] Having problems with dlimits on 0.30.210?
So I am having problems getting the new dlimits option working with util-vserver 0.30.210. First off, there appears to be some differences between the great flower page configuration compared with this doc on the linux-vserver.org site: http://linux-vserver.org/Disk+Limits The difference being the addition of a subfolder under dlimits. Without adding a 0 subfolder, all settings were completely ignored. Once the proper files were inside of the 0 subfolder, the total settings were applied but the usage settings were not correctly calculated. I saw this error once, vserver: vdlimit: vc_get_dlimit(): No such process, but have not seen it again, even after deleting the cache file. (also the cache file was never recreated after deleting it.) Here's my settings (anyone spot my mistake?): /etc/vservers/testing.com/dlimits/0: cat directory: /vservers/testing.com cat inodes_total 2097152 cat reserved: 5 cat space_total: 2097152 du -sh testing.com/ 691Mtesting.com/ df -h (inside vserver): FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hdv1 2.0G 40K 1.9G 1% / none 150M 0 150M 0% /tmp (before deleted) cat /etc/vservers/testing.com/cache/dlimits/737_vservers_testing.com_: space_used=4 inodes_used=2 If I use the following script on the context it works fine: /usr/sbin/vdlimit --xid 737 --set space_total=2097152 --set space_used=`du -s /vservers/testing.com/ | awk '{print $1}'` --set inodes_total=2097152 --set inodes_used=`ls -1aRi /vservers/testing.com/ | awk '/^[0-9]+ / { print $1 }' | sort -u | wc -l` --set reserved=5 /vservers/testing.com/ df -h (inside vserver): FilesystemSize Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/hdv1 2.0G 691M 1.3G 36% / none 150M 0 150M 0% /tmp Thanks, Kevin ___ Vserver mailing list Vserver@list.linux-vserver.org http://list.linux-vserver.org/mailman/listinfo/vserver
