Painting popper heads
I'd like to try painting some white foam popper heads in various fluorescent colors. What kind of paint works best? Kent Lufkin
Re: Painting popper heads
Hi Kent, I asked my wife that question and as she is a quilter and fabric crafts person, she says go to Jo-ann's and get Polymark fabric paint. It comes in lots of colors and also florescent. It is the stuff that T-shirts are painted with. She also has some glow in the dark, water proof, water based paint made by Palmer Paint Products. RE: Painting popper heads
Kent, You'll need to be careful that the paint doesn't react to the foam. I would try a water based acrylic to start with. If you have an Airbrush you might want to try some of the paints made by Createx (These can be found at a good Craft store or Artist Supply store). Createx comes at the proper viscosity for an Airbrush. It can also be applied with a brush. I use this paint all the time when painting clear lexan bodies for my slot cars. BTW: Parma FASCOLOR paint is just Createx with a different label and some different color mixes. This paint mixes very well to make your own colors too! If you want to paint with Lacquer make sure it won't eat the foam by using one of your popper heads as a test. For Lacquer you can go to any Automotive Paint/Body Supply store and get just about any color you want. They will usually sell you a very small about so long as they don't have to mix the color.
