However there are plenty of other retail electrical goods and computer outlets which appear to be doing well. Significantly, they all seem to want to have as little to do with with Apple related products as possible. Why is this so? Regards, Paul. will some kind person please open an Apple Centre somewhere in the southern suburbs no not Cannington (no offence) I mean closer to Town, only South! I will,...if someone would like to fund it for me. :o) I seem to have lost my cheque book. ;o)) -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.html Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.html Unsubscribe - mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Your use of Yahoo! Blocking Spam
Hi all, Until recently I have had spam free email account. I had a total of 1 spam email before I got those Medec Therapy ones. While they've since stopped, thanks to a lot of people on this list, I've recently started receiving porn spam. I can't use Entourage's junk mail filter because they seem to come from Yahoo email addresses and I don't want to block anyone who uses a Yahoo account, but I can't for the life of me work out how to just block individual email addresses. Do I need a separate application or script/plugin to do it? Any help would be appreciated, I have never had a problem with spam before and I'd rather not have to change my email address just to prevent it. I run Mac OS9.2 with Entourage from Office 2001. I believe I have downloaded all the updates for Entourage. Kind regards, Kelly Duffy

Do I need a separate application or script/plugin to do it? While I don't have Entourage in front of me, I'm guessing that you can block messages from a group. If you were to create a group called SPAM-addresses and block messages from anyone who is a member of that group, every time you receive some more SPAM, you just need to add that new address to the group you created. Any help would be appreciated, I have never had a problem with spam before and I'd rather not have to change my email address just to prevent it. I run Mac OS9.2 with Entourage from Office 2001. I believe I have downloaded all the updates for Entourage. It is likely that this is a problem that is here to stay. Changing your address may help short-term, but in my opinion is a waste of time and effort in the long-term, because your new address will likely be picked up next time around. It is likely that your receipt of SPAM started when you made your email address public. For example, my email archives show that your first post to WAMUG from your current address was on October 16, 2002. While WAMUG postings are archived on a system that hides addresses, other mailing lists you subscribe to may not - as an example, I subscribed to four mailing lists from one organisation which does not filter messages or hide addresses in the archive, resulting in 400 SPAM in one week. An article has recently been published suggesting ways of protecting your address: http://www.cdt.org/speech/spam/030319spamreport.shtml IMO, SPAM will remain an issue until there is a commitment from those bystanders who benefit to cease and desist. Hmmm. Excerpt from http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93041: Note : Be sure to make regular backups of your music files (in your iTunes Music folder) by copying them to an external hard disk or other media. If your hard disk becomes damaged or you lose any of the music you've purchased, you'll have to buy any purchased music again to rebuild your library. You can also make an audio CD of the songs you purchase so you can listen to them in a consumer CD player. Re: Fwd: AppleStore vs Reseller
You could consult the list at Apple Australia's web site at: http://store.apple.com.au/buy/ True - but it doesn't indicate stores their related service centres. For example RandomAccess used to use CDM Australia in Osborne Park... Just curious. Cheers, Antony. -- == = = = = Antony N. X-10 Unit's Available at DSE
Here's one for the home automators : I received an e-mail from Eon3 today informing me that Dick Smith Electronics PowerHouse stores now carry some of the Eon3 X10 modules / starter kits. Many of the modules are $30 cheaper than buying from Eon3 direct! As far as I am aware there aren't any PowerHouse stores here yet but you can order over the Internet. http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.filereader?3eaf39ae0531bc582741c0a87f9c0708+EN/catalogs/CTG0005678 If you still haven't seen it check out Xtension (cool HA software for the Mac) at http://www.shed.com - there's an OS X version due soon too! There's a function built into iTunes 4 that will scan your purchased music folder and compare it to the database file for your account. If files are missing from your machine that should be there compared to the online database it will redownload those files for you at no charge.

TIA Clive If they've turned up the brightness (using the F2 key) and still can't see anything it's a good bet the backlight on the screen has blown. Virtual PC 6
Hi I was wondering if anyone out there has used Virtual PC 6 and understands some issues I'm facing. When ever I use it and make the PC restart the program closes and when I go to re-launch it, an error occurs or in some cases my computer freezes. It works fine until the windows system is restarted but then becomes corrupt. Any Ideas on a cure? Regards Christian
Re : Blocking Spam
Similar to what Kelly Duffy reported, my wife's e-mail with iPrimus got spammed with a bullshit Mail Undelivered letter which says my wife tried to contact a porn site e-mail address but it couldn't get through. She, of course, didn't, but what I think they were hoping was that those who got their BS e-mail would reply or contact the site therefore submitting themselves to a life of spam hell. I'm all for free enterprise and promotion as much as the next person but some of these creeps are over the top. I contacted iPrimus by form on their website a few days back to tell them that maybe their customers are getting targeted but no reply. Oh well. Re: PB G3 Dark Screen
I had that recently on bronze PBG3: broken (OK dropped) screen replaced, then the replacement got the flickers and ultimately went very dark (but you could juuust navigate your way around if you had a good light in the room, funnily enough). Replacement screen from Apple did the same thing: defective also according to tech. A further screen and a board later and all appears well. Thank God for insurance. d On Friday, May 2, 2003, at 15:44 Australia/Perth, Shay Telfer wrote: Hi A friend has a PB G3 but the screen is very dim, you can see the desk top but only just, how do they get illumination?
