Hi All! Saw this link today: http://www.apple.com/r/store/business/pricematch/ Let´s hope we never see this in Australia. I could imagine how ticked off our dealers would be if they did all the ground work to get a deal, then see Apple knock off 10% and win the deal with little work! Re: 17LCD Recommendations, with DVI

It must have DVI, and hopefully a good seek time on the LCD (like 12ms). has a zero dead pixel policy. Retail on it is about $1095. I got them cheaper for a lot of my clients. Are there any that have built-in TV tuners? Heard about that and seems to be very handy. Stacks of them... just not available here they sell them in Japan and but only receive/process NTSC though it did look like they also had standard analog video inputs as well - I recall the brands included known names like Sany/Panasonic/Mitsubishi - they sell for only about 50 to 100 bucks more than their non TV receiving equivalent model monitors and it was actually quite hard to find non-recever monitors (I was looking for 17 LCD monitor) - one even had a slot loading DVD player built in to it. Unlike a lot of the other electronics gear I saw in Japan LCD monitors were still much the same price as here. There was some discussion on TV to DVI conversion on Macintouch recently http://www.macintouch.com/newsrecent.shtml#i.2004.08.19.flattv Of course you'd then have to add a tuner to that... It was put forward by the Hollywood companies to stop DVDs being distributed in various markets at the same time ie normally you can buy a region 1 dvd from the US before the movie has been released at the cinemas here in Australia. As for your dvd drive from the Vaio laptop, it won´t fit. The eMac takes a standard 5 1/4 half height drive, with a standard ide interface and power connector on the back. The Vaio is likely to havea slim line drive designed for a laptop (may be 1/2¨ thick), with a laptop-style connector that carries both the ide and power connector in one. Unless of course it is an external DVD drive, but then you run the risk of breaking it when trying to pop open the case and removing the wiring. Cheaper just to go an buy a standard DVD drive for it. Around $140 will get you a Pioneer A07 burner (not sure if the new dual layer A08s are supported in OS X yet). Seeya Rod! -- -- From Rod´s Linux Box

A well worded search in google (big hint - include the model number)will give you enough hits as to how either reset the region change counter on your drive or on how to render it regionless. My recommendation is for the former that is a bios flash that resets the region count because my guess is that you will find your self playing mostly region 3 disks and the occational region O disks(regionless disks - mostly classic movies, documentaries, music DVD's and, apparently, uh hummm adult content DVD disks) and there are some DVD' disks that will not work in drives that have been rendered regionless -- ~ Mark Secker Computer Support Officer ph#6488 1855 (ECEL) mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] University of Western Australia - CRICOS Provider No. 00126G ~ Only he who attempts the absurd is capable of achieving the impossible. - Miguel de Unamuno It takes an idiot to do cool things that's why it's cool - Haruhara Haruka (FLCL) http://ecel-mark.ecel.uwa.edu.au/~marksecker/index.htm (sometimes works)

Tech help needed for Mailman, qmail
Hi Everyone, Not sure where to ask for this question, and I know there's a few techie types who are on this list, so here goes: I am trying to setup Mailman under 10.3, and want to use qmail for the MTA. As far as I can tell, qmail is working, because the logs show me when I'm receiving mail etc, and I think Mailman is working because I can access it from the web. However, when I email a request to Mailman, nothing happens. I've tried looking through the Mailman mailing list archives, and not had much success. Does anyone know anyone who can help me out here? Please reply off the list. There used to be a Mac Geeks mailing list, but I've lost the details about it. Does it still exist? Thanks in advance, Paul. -- Paul W.
