Mail Scripts 2.5
Hi People, This sounds good. I've always wanted to be able to apply my 'Rules' to my 'Sent' messages. Looks like this will enable me to. http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/16217 Product Description: Mail Scripts is a collection of AppleScript Studio applications for Mail and Address Book offering additional features or simplified workflow. Mail Scripts consists of the following scripts: • Add Addresses (Mail): Add addresses found in the selected messages (in the header fields From, To, Cc, and Bcc) to the Address Book. This is much more flexible than the Add Sender to Address Book available in Mail and provides a convenient way for creating mailing lists. • Archive Messages (Mail): Move messages from the selected mailbox(es) to an archive mailbox or export them to standard mbox or plain text files for backup purposes or import into other applications. You can select to move all messages or only messages sent within or certain period as well filter messages based on their read and flagged status. • Change SMTP Server (Mail): Switch between different already defined SMTP servers or define a new one. This is especially useful if you are using your computer in more than one location and have to switch servers for several accounts at once. • Create Rule (Mail): Create a new rule based on the first of the selected messages. This saves you the trouble of copy/pasting address or other info between the message and the rule window and provides a much quicker way for setting up a rule with multiple criteria/actions. • Remove Duplicates (Mail): Locate all duplicate messages found in the selected mailbox(es) and move them to a separate mailbox for easy removal (duplicate matching is based on the unique message header Message-Id). • Schedule Delivery (Mail): Allows you to send individual messages at predefined times (this script uses iCal for scheduling message delivery). • Send all Drafts (Mail): Immediately send all messages in the Drafts folders for all accounts. This saves you from having to open each draft in order to send it. • Open Mailbox, Open Message (Mail): Two small faceless scripts which will open mailboxes with new messages or the new messages themselves when run as a rule action. • Filter Sent Messages (Mail): Another faceless scripts which will apply your rules to the messages in the Sent mailbox. • Export Addresses (Address Book): Export addresses from the Address Book into tab-delimited text files. You can select which groups and which fields you want to export. • Search Addresses (Address Book): Find all addresses inside the Address Book matching one or more criteria. As opposed to the Search function built into the Address Book, this lets you search in any field as well as for empty and non-empty fields. As an example, you might use this script to search for all phone numbers with a certain area code in order to update your contacts after an area code change. Is there somewhere in unix where I can see it putting in the url for seti and giving the return address for me--- if you see what I mean. Severin Under File, Print, there are various options under the 'Style' tab including Contact Sheet which is probably what you are after. Slide the bar titled 'Across' and that will you allow you to nominate how many thumbnails show up on the page. Re: Speeding up Firefox + optimizing broadband
Wendy, et al, I have not used the BroadbandOptimizer, but you can make your Broadband fly with Cocktail, available from: http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/18282 Or by using the Terminal and modify three system network configuration settings. Those of you who have direct DSL or cable connections will most likely have the most luck with this hack. Open the Terminal and type sudo s , press Return, and enter your password when prompted. This command will put you in root mode so you won¹t have to type sudo in front of every command. Type the three commands below, following each with a return. sysctl w net.inet.tcp.recvspace=65536 This line increases the receive buffer, which allows the computer to receive larger packets of data before stopping the flow and responding to the appropriate host. sysctl w net.inet.tcp.sendspace=65536 This is the send buffer, which functions in the same way as the receive buffer except it affect uploads. For most usres this setting won¹t matter as much, but if you to send large email attachments or uploads pictures to your web site, you may notice a difference. sysctl w net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0 This line alters the delay acknowledgement from 1 to 0, which is telling the computer to send its response immediately, which can dramatically increase the perceived speed of large downloads. Type exit to log out of root mode, the quite the terminal session. These settings only works for the current session. If you reboot your machine, the settings you tweaked revert to their defaults. However, after you have tested the setting and like the result you can modify one of the startup files to make these settings change automatically every time you start up your machine. The suggested recvspace and sendspace for 512 DSL link is 4. To set the start-up file to it's maximum type the following into the Terminal sudo pico /etc/rc With the arrow keys, scroll all the way to the bottom. The last line should read exit 0. Position the cursor right above that line and type the tree commands: sysctl w net.inet.tcp.recvspace=65536 sysctl w net.inet.tcp.sendspace=65536 sysctl w net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0 Press Control-X to exit, press Y when the Terminal asks if you want to save, and you are all set. Now the system will change your broadband settings each time you boot up. When making any system modifications Backup the file before you change the start-up file setting. Thanks for the responses to my query on printing a thumbnail catalog. My complex mind never thought of doing anything as simple as going straight to Print and the information in Help does not really lead you. Just a correction to this otherwise-comprehensive info: In message [EMAIL PROTECTED] on Sun, Jan 09, 2005 at 02:51:09PM +0800, Peder Kristensen wrote: To set the start-up file to [its] maximum type the following into the Terminal sudo pico /etc/rc As far as I am aware, you should *not* modify /etc/rc. At the very least, this file is liable to be overwritten during an upgrade and you will lose your customisation. Instead, modify /etc/sysctl (create the file if necessary) and add the following lines instead of the ones indicated in Peder's previous post: net.inet.tcp.recvspace=65536 net.inet.tcp.sendspace=65536 net.inet.tcp.delayed_ack=0

I don't endorse the modifications (since they may not be productive for your own type of broadband), I'm just trying to get you to modify /etc/sysctl.conf instead of /etc/rc :)

Plus I tried adding those lines to Safari that Ronni suggested but they have since disappeared from the file. I'll try that again later and check that I'm saving it correctly when I have more time. cheers Brian Hi Brian, Did you QUIT Safari before you did this? Otherwise anything you change will just be changed back when you do quit. I used BBEdit to add the two lines then 'Save As' com.appleSafari.plist 'Where': Preferences Cheers, Ronni From what we get, we can make a living; what we give, however, makes a life. - Arthur Ashe

I am hoping that someone may have a fix for my printer problem. The i455 prints approx. half a document or photograph and quits telling me there is a problem and I should stop the printing and turn the printer off for a few minutes. I am about to dump it and buy a cheapy if I cannot get it up and running. Any fixes from the list? TIA Kevin
