Re: Exporting Keynote Presentation
Thanks for all the advice. I'm sure one of those things will work out. There's no TV available to me but that was certainly a good idea. At the moment I'm looking into running the keynote program on my iPod. I tried this with my other computer that doesn't have keynote installed. It gave me the option to run keynote on a 30 day trial period. If I can't get a mac for the presentation or I'm unable to run keynote from my iPod I'll probably use a quicktime movie as you suggested. I hadn't thought of that because I'd ruled them out last year when I was doing a presentation and I didn't have an iPod with quite so much storage space. Thanks for the Help Ruben Hmmm, Rob you had me doubt my original 720x540, but on re-reading my Keynote notes, Keynote uses a resolution of 720x540 at 24 frames per second for the intermediate QuickTime movie, which iDVD then converts to 720x576 at 25 FPS (for PAL), or 720x480 at 30 FPS (for NTSC). This might help : The iPod only supports video, so you HAVE to either use H.264 or Mpeg4, and it looks fine on the ipod itself, and depending on the theme, it looks fine on a TV set. Use 720x540 as your base size, mostly because that's the size Keynote exports to iDVD, and it's the correct ratio to start with when you're going from computer to tv. Then use some kind of converter (like iSquint or Visual Hub) to convert that to a 720x480 iPod movie. Export as Animation out of Keynote and then run the compression in one of those 2 apps. The colours come out much better than simply exporting from Keynote to iTunes. My lecturer has said that presentations will be marked on how impressive the actual presentation is rather than content. Export it as a PDF. Use File, Export menu, choose PDF as the export option. You may want to turn off the borders on each page. Glenn. 2008/5/10 Dark1 [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I'm constructing a keynote presentation (using v3.0.2, iWork 06) but I don't have a laptop and the place where I'm doing the presentation won't have keynote installed. The power point exported version changes the location of one of my pie charts and the text for my charts looks muddy. Is there any way to fix this (particularly the changing pie chart location)? If I load the Keynote application onto my iPod would I be able to give the presentation in keynote on a mac? Can an erase and reinstall fix whatever DiskWarrior couldn't ?
Both Disk Utility and DiskWarrior told me that the hard disk in my 17 G4 PowerBook was beyond repair, so I'd pretty much accepted that. As a last ditch effort, before I put the G4 out to pasture, I've done a complete erase and reinstall, using the original installation disks, and everything appears to have installed fine. Is that normal? Could a complete reinstall have fixed whatever it was that DiskWarrior couldn't? Should I be concerned about the stability of the seemingly reborn G4?! Is that normal? Yes Steven , that is normal . You have data on your hard drive which is cataloged with a Directory . When the directory gets corrupted if you erase and re instal you create an uncorrupted directory and your system will work as before the problem showed up . The question to be answered , and which will determine whether you have further trouble is what caused the corrupt directory ? Your hard drive may be failing , or you had an electrical glitch .. did you say the mac was dropped while it was running ? ... DO NOT trust your data on the disk .. keep it backed up regular until at least time has shown the disk is normal . At worst you may just need a new hard drive ! Re: Can an erase and reinstall fix whatever DiskWarrior couldn't ?
Thanks Bob. Yes, the G4 was dropped, not from a great height, and on floorboards, but nevertheless it was dropped. It was however playing up a little prior to that fall, so whether the fall was the cause or a catalyst, not sure. Probably. Anyway, I'm still in there with a chance it seems :-) Cheers, Steven On 11/5/08 11:33 PM, Robert Howells [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On 11/05/2008, at 11:16 PM, Steven wrote: Both Disk Utility and DiskWarrior told me that the hard disk in my 17 G4 PowerBook was beyond repair, so I'd pretty much accepted that.
