F1 F2 brightness control - stopped working on MacBook Pro
I have a 17 Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro running latest OS. Can anyone give me a clue as to what else I can do to get function keys F1 and F2 controlling my screen brightness again? They stopped working a while ago - no idea why. Screen brightness can still be controlled using System Preferences, but when I hit F1 or F2 all I get is an error beep. I've reset the PMU - didn't fix it. Re: F1 F2 brightness control - stopped working on MacBook Pro
You could try checking your keyboard shortcuts under the system preferences and also check to see if there are any applications that use those hotkeys for some other function. Hope this helps Ruben I have a 17 Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro running latest OS. Can anyone give me a clue as to what else I can do to get function keys F1 and F2 controlling my screen brightness again? Hello Steven, System Preferences Keyboard Mouse - Keyboard Do you have ticked ‘Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys’ If you do, you have to press Fn to get hardware functions (e.g. you have to press Fn+F1 to decrease brightness, Fn+F2 to increase brightness). Doh! Thanks guys. That's it. I forgot that I'd changed this for easier access to Spaces (F8). Problem solved. Cheers, Steven Try it while holding down the fn key at the lower left. If that works, then open System Preferences - Keyboard and Mouse and then uncheck the Use all F1, F2 etc. keys as standard function keys option on the Keyboard tab. Google Chrome
I read in today's Crikey an enthusiastic write up of Googles browser, Chrome. A Mac version is on the way. iPhone/iPod Touch testers needed
Hi All I'm a local software developer (www.pixelglow.com in Manning, WA) that's developing some iPhone/iPod Touch software. If you're interested in mind maps, org charts, E-R diagrams or just relating things together, I'd love to have you as a tester. I'm trying to keep the project as low-key as possible before I have a solid beta to release, so please email me directly if you're interested and I can send you more details. This could be the next big thing on the iPhone, or not... Thanks!
