Re: iPad mail problem

2010-08-14 Thread Daniel Kerr

Hi Barry

Another thing you could try is to turn off WiFi, Bluetooth (and 3G if you
have that model).
Basically turn off any type of internet connection. (A bit like Airplane
mode on the iPhone - I can't remember if it has that feature on the iPad and
can't check mine as it's out on demo,...)
Once it's all offline and not able to make a connection then see if you
can delete the message.

Another one to do it, is before reading the message go to the edit feature
in Mail and you can then tick it and choose delete. (This is the feature
used to delete multiple messages all at the same time).

Sorry can't give exact directions as can't do it here then write as I'm
doing it ;)
But hopefully that will give you enough to go on.

Oh, and cross fingers first :)

Kind Regards
Daniel

Thanks Daniel

Tried turning off connections as you suggest but still freezes at that message.
Similarly I am unable to delete as freeze occurs when this message is
tickedin edit.
I think I will leave it for to-day, it is becoming too frustrating and I am
sure there are more constructive things I should be doing.

Cheers

 Hi Barry,

A big red box 'Delete Account' is right at the bottom of that window.

You might have to scroll down to the bottom or hide the keypad (click on the
bottom right keypad icon to hide the keypad)

Have tried restarting - no luck
The message does have an attachment which was the sender's logo, as the
screen freezes no swipes, taps etc work,  this is the major problem with
 this message.
I would like to delete this account from the iPad and then reinstall,
however, there seems to be provision to add an account in mail settings
but not to delete one.  Any advice?  Can it be done through iTunes?

 Hi Barry,

Did this particular email message have an attachment?

If you swipe your finger across the message horizontally. When you do
that, there is a Delete button showing up to the right of the message,
if you click the delete button do you receive a message? If so what does
 it say?

 Cheers,

 Hi Barry,

Depending on what Mail Account Server you are using, the details may
 be a little different.
Find the option that keeps a copy on the server. where it is will
depend on what email program you have.

 1) Go to advanced settings for your mail account
 2) uncheck trash on iPad
 3) check trash on server look near bottom

If trash on iPad is checked, trashed mail stays on the iPad which
essential means you keep seeing it in your emails.

 Cheers,
 Ronni

ABC iPhone application

2010-08-14 Thread bredens

Some of you may know that the ABC has an iPhone application. with it you can
listen to radio live.

However those programmes that come from the eastern states e.g. Australia All
Over today, are broadcast here in WA at eastern state times i.e. two hours
ahead. There are no setting on the ABC iPhone application to change so that
you can listen to these programmes at local time.

Any suggestion son how to listen at local time?

Hi Merv

I've used the MyBook Word 1.5TB drive and find it quite good. Though I've
also got a Time Capsule for most of my backups, I use it as a network file
storage also. It was quite easy to set up overall.
You can also use it with Time Machine on your 10.58 machine, as well an
iTunes Music server also if you want to sure music in one spot as well. And
plenty of other features.
There's some quite good info on them here at the wholesaler site I get them
from:-
http://www.simms.com.au/ProductDetails.aspx?ItemCode=WDH1NC1Avendid=WE
SDIG002catid=562ValueRam=0
I supplied a couple here and there to clients and they've been quite happy
with them.

Hope that helps.

Kind Regards
Daniel
