Hi Merv, Apparently this is a bug in Notes 3.0.5. Extract from their support site: This is a nasty bug which happens to a small portion of users that we haven’t figured out the root cause yet. To fix this issue, you need to remove Notes Plus and re-install the application from App Store. Please remember to backup your important data prior to re-install Notes Plus. Hi Ronni I removed Notes Plus and did a re-install. Followed the procedure described in my email for exporting by email, and it worked! Thank you. I have not had cause to remove an application from my iPad so that is a process that I now know how to manage. I have saved the two links that you sent for future reference.. Thank you. Hi Stuart Given my query you would realise I am a beginner ins this area. In WAMUG archives search for Drawing on iPad. In that thread Carlo and Pat offered suggestions. I guess your choice will depend on what you want to do with it. My motivation was to involve my grandchildren in problem solving without worrying about making mistakes. For note taking at a meeting I use Pages and a keyboard. Merv On 9/09/12 8:01 PM, Stuart Breden wrote: Interesting. Is this the best notes taking software? Re: Time Machine backup
Righto, so the two 'good' sparsebundles copied off ok, then the Time Capsule erase. Using Airport Utility, I was presented with 4 options of how to erase the TC - Quick Erase, All Zeros, All Zeroes 3 times, All Zeros 7 times. I chose All Zeros initially and the process started ok and got to around 15% where it never got past - I left it for the whole weekend! Not sure why this was but after some learned advice from Dad, I interrupted it and did the Quick Erase which was complete in minutes which resulted in 929.45 GB free from the 1TB. All good. Started shaking with anticipation at this point and got Tim's (9yo) MacBook, checked the naming was ok and set it off.. Well it just set about doing a normal first time backup (49GB) which was completed within 3 hours - success! Just got to reinstate the two other sparsebundles now and get it all sorted. N. Schmitz http://tidbits.com/article/13245 Nuance has released Dragon Dictate 3.0, a major new release that promises increased accuracy and speedier overall performance. With its updated speech recognition engine (Dragon NaturallySpeaking 12), Dragon Dictate 3.0 offers faster dictation (a 15 percent improvement over the previous version) and higher audio sampling for better accuracy. The new release also enables you to make corrections by speaking individual words and phrases, and you can also select an alternate word choice or train Dragon Dictate new words by spelling them. When you’re away from your Mac, you can record voice notes into a digital voice recorder, the iOS Voice Memos app, or the free Dragon Recorder app and then transfer them to Dragon Dictate to transcribe them. Other new features include Smart Format Rules that recognize when you’re using abbreviations or numbers, an Express Editor that enables you to speak text and then paste the transcription into a document or app, and support for 16 kHz wide-band Bluetooth wireless headset microphones. The digital download goes on sale on 13 September 2012, and you can currently pre-order the physical disc version for shipment starting on 24 September 2012. Registered owners of Macspeech Dictate or Dragon Dictate can upgrade to Dragon Dictate 3.0 for $149.99, and there is also a $129.99 student/teacher edition for qualified students and faculty. Re: iPad mail
Hi Peter, iOS 5 now lets you create new mailboxes right in Mail. (And remember, this applies only to server-based mailboxes in an IMAP or Exchange account.) Edit your mailboxes: New in iOS 5 is the capability to add, delete, rename, or move mailboxes in server-based accounts (including IMAP, Exchange, and iCloud). First navigate to a specific account (not an Inbox or All Inboxes) and tap Edit. Then: 1. To create a mailbox, tap New Mailbox. Type a name, select a location (at the top level of the account or within an existing mailbox), and tap Save. 2. To rename a mailbox, tap it, edit the name, and tap Save. 3. To delete a mailbox, tap it, tap Delete Mailbox, and then tap Delete Mailbox again to confirm. 4. To move a mailbox, tap it, select a new location within its account, and tap Save. (You can’t move a mailbox from one account to another, as you can individual messages.) 5. Tap Done after making any desired changes. Re: iPad mail
Hi again Peter, I just found time to check your original message to the list, where you mention: The manual says Add a mailbox - Go to the malboxes list, tap Edit, then tap New Mailbox. The reality! When I go to the mailbox list there is no Edit? Is this a POP email Account that you are trying to add a Mailbox? The Mailboxes - Edit will only show with IMAP Accounts (server-based accounts)... NOT POP Accounts. As I mentioned below in my reply. Cheers, Ronni On 10/09/2012, at 1:05 PM, Ronda Brown ro...@mac.com wrote: Hi Peter, iOS 5 now lets you create new mailboxes right in Mail. I guess what I'm looking for is really a folder to store some emails I've already read.
