Re: Attachment Tamer

2013-09-14 Thread Daniel Kerr
Just to add to this,….
I installed 10.8.5 Combo Update just now and it's kept Attachment Tamer
installed, so yes, as Ronni as mentioned, I would try re-installing it and see
how it goes.
Otherwise there could be something else that is "conflicting" with it perhaps.
That's about the only add-on I have installed on my whole system, as I keep it
fairly lean running.

Hope that helps.

Kind regards
Daniel

Hey Daniel it is perfectly ok to disagree with me ;-))
If you want or require more control over how Apple Mail handles
attachments... icon-versus-inline graphic problems... 'Attachment Tamer'
is a well recommended plug-in (I have used it ;-)
Because Attachment Tamer changes the way Mail sends and processes
messages, it greatly increases the probability that the sender AND
recipient will both see attachments the same way.

My comments to Laura were made because I have found that most problems in
Apple Mail are caused by a plug-in or add-on that is not updated regularly
to be compatible with Mail/OS X updates.

Laura might not be using the current version Attachment Tamer 3.1.13, or
perhaps it is not compatible; as I mentioned below Lokiware mentioned -
version 3.1.13 "preliminary compatibility with the upcoming OS X 10.8.5
 update".

Re: Attachment Tamer

2013-09-14 Thread Ronda Brown
Ok Severin,
If Attachment Tamer 3.1.13 works correctly in your OS X 10.8.4... It is
compatible with this update.

So I would suggest to Laura & Susan that they download Attachment Tamer latest
version and reinstall it.

From Lokiware support:

"According to Apple “Mail plugins are automatically disabled” after some Mac OS
X updates because “does not support the installation or use of third-party
plugins with Mail.app”.

If this happens, check for a new release of Attachment Tamer compatible with
your version of Mac OS X (and thus also the Message and Mail software released
with it), download it and reinstall. You do not need to worry that your
settings or registration will be lost if the plug-in is disabled and then
reinstalled."

Cheers,
Ronni

 Hi Laura,

Lokiware have not updated Attachment Tamer version 3.1.13, and Lokiware
only mentioned that version 3.1.13 - "preliminary compatibility with the
 upcoming OS X 10.8.5 update".

So if you feel you absolutely require Attachment Tamer you will have to
wait until they update the plug-in.
You should not need a third party plug-in for Attachments in Mountain Lion
 Apple Mail.

Re: Attachment Tamer

2013-09-14 Thread Susan Hastings
When I upgraded to 10.8.5 attachment tamer was disabled on Mail and the message
was that it was incompatible.

I'll check back with Lokiware in a week or two to see if its been updated.

Re: Attachment Tamer

2013-09-14 Thread Ronda Brown
Hey Daniel it is perfectly ok to disagree with me ;-))
If you want or require more control over how Apple Mail handles attachments...
icon-versus-inline graphic problems... 'Attachment Tamer' is a well recommended
plug-in (I have used it ;-)
Because Attachment Tamer changes the way Mail sends and processes messages, it
greatly increases the probability that the sender AND recipient will both see
attachments the same way.

My comments to Laura were made because I have found that most problems in Apple
Mail are caused by a plug-in or add-on that is not updated regularly to be
compatible with Mail/OS X updates.

Laura might not be using the current version Attachment Tamer 3.1.13, or
perhaps it is not compatible; as I mentioned below Lokiware mentioned - version
3.1.13 "preliminary compatibility with the upcoming OS X 10.8.5 update".

Cheers,
Ronni

I haven't yet installed the 10.8.5 update (haven't gotten around to it),…but I

straight away on all systems.

(not often I disagree with your Ronni, but this time I think I will,….lol) ;o)
(meant in the nicest way of course).
For me, the biggest advantage is when I send out PDF's to clients as invoices,
Attachment Tamer automatically makes them "Show as icon", rather then in Place
like Mail does.
Also, it will keep the attachment where I want it to go, rather then at the top
or bottom of an email. Plus a few other things it does quite well, that Apple
Mail "just isn't quite there yet".
Don't get me wrong, I know I don't "need" it,…I just "like" it,… ;)) hehe.
It's one of the first things I add when installing a new system of mine. :o)

I have been using Attachment Tamer for several years. After successfully
installing the latest Mountain Lion Combo on MacMini I received a message that
Attachment Tamer has been removed. Presumably this means it is not compatible
with the update.

I've tried the Attachment Tamer web page but can't seem to find out how to

Hoping someone can help.

Though I am careful with my housekeeping and tidying to the point of paranoia,
I notice that after installing the combo update to 10.8.5 everything is that
little bit snappier in many actions.iMac (2011 Sandy Bridge core i5 2.7GB)
Has anyone else noticed similar?

Re: Error message -54

2013-09-14 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Pat,

Error -54 is a normally a software lock on a file or a permissions error.

1. Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility
Open Disk Utility - click on your Hard Drive - select ‘First Aid’ button -
‘Repair Disk Permissions’

2. Then check you have Ownership and Permissions to write to the iTunes files.
They should be located in your Macintosh HD/Users/UserName/Music\iTunes

A) Select the iTunes Folder - Go to File > Get Info --- (or Command-I on the
iTunes folder)
Check you DON’T have ‘Locked’ selected

B) Then under ‘Sharing & Permissions’ that you have “Read & Write” Privilege

Re: Error message -54

2013-09-14 Thread Pat
Hi, Ronni,

The iPhone was plugged into the computer for charging, backing up, and updating
apps, with iTunes open. I don't have the phone in hand at the moment - it's
gone for a walk, so I can't check - but I believe that was the whole message
plus the line 'Don't warn me again' with a checkbox.

Thanks,
Pat
