Re: Optical drive problem

2017-02-03 Thread Tim Law
John I had this problem to with my old Mac Mini and given I hardly used it, and
my daughter bought an external DVD drive which I could borrow when I liked, I
replaced the DVD with an SSD drive

The results were not satisfactory and I couldn't get it to load consistently
from the SSD, so I swapped it all back and run the SSD from an external
enclosure.

The point of this story for you is that now the DVD drive seems to work again,
so maybe the exercise in removing and replacing has jolted it back to live, or
a little twist here and there has resolved a dry joint. Or maybe it's just put
the wind up it so it's come to its senses and spring back to life.

I assume it works now, I still never use it :-)

By the way, running the Mac Mini from the external DVD drive and a USB port is
WONDERFUL!!!

Regards
Tim

Hi Severin,

Do you mean Sidebar Add by just drag a photo from either 'All Photos' or
'another Album' over the Album you want the photo in?

I do this all the time as it is so easy and works perfectly.

Re: How do I

2017-02-03 Thread Ronni Brown
Hi Severin,

Add Photos to an Album
Unless you’re very lucky and select just the right images for your album the
first time, you’ll probably want to add items to your album afterward:

• Easy add: Select those items in Photos and choose File > New Album
(Command-N).

This seems counterintuitive — after all, that’s a command to create a new
album—but the resulting dialog also lets you pick an existing album.
Choose the album you’d like to add the images to, click OK, and they are added.

• Sidebar add: If the sidebar is visible, you can add photos to an album by
dropping them over the album in the sidebar.

Regards,
Ronni

Super-MultiDrive Upgrades – For all Mac mini models (G4 and Intel Models

NOTE: Not for Mac mini Early 2009 or later. For the Early 2009 or later models
a SATA 12.7mm drive is required.

Hi John,

Well, I guess the obvious answer is replace the drive ;o)

Lots of info, including "how to" videos, here:

I've used these guys before for RAM and they were quick and efficient.

The thing to do would be to watch the "how to" video relevant to your
particular model and see if it is the sort of procedure you would be happy
to do yourself.

If you are happy to do it yourself, it would be a relatively cheap option.

Of course, if you are not comfortable with this sort of exercise then you
could go to a professional - I guess it depends how much you want to spend
on an 8 year old mac mini. I'm sure Daniel could give you some advice here.

I do understand your desire to keep the old machines going - I'm still using

Re: Adding a graphic to an existing page in html

2017-02-03 Thread Neil Houghton
Do you mean something like this:

JS picture button

function showPicture() {
var sourceOfPicture =
"http://wallpaper-gallery.net/images/happy-image/happy-image-11.jpg";;
var img = document.getElementById('bigpic')
img.src = sourceOfPicture;
img.style.display = "block";
}

show image

Copy the above and save as a text file with a .html extension and then open
the file with your browser - you should see a page with just a button saying
"show image".

Clicking the button should load the image.

I suspect there are many ways to achieve the same thing.

As Ronni says, you would use an IMG tag if you just want to display a picture
when the page loads, but if you want it to be dynamic (ie. the contents of the
page move down to make room for a picture which appears when a button is
pressed, or something similar) then you need javascript. Contact us off-list
and if you like we can provide specific code when we understand exactly what
you want to achieve.
