Re: [WAMUG] Any fix for a faulty Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad?

2023-11-26 Thread Peter Crisp via WAMUG
Hi Brian, It is worth plugging the keyboard into another computer with
a USB port to test it. Even a Windows computer or a Macbook if you or
someone you know has one. That would test the working function of the
keyboard. Is it possible by coincidence the batteries in the keyboard
need replacing - if it has batteries even though USB connected.

I'm not sure how to disassociate the device from your iMac to restart
the association again as though it were a new keyboard. Hopefully
someone else here knows how to do that.
   Kind Regards
   Peter Crisp

[WAMUG] Any fix for a faulty Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad?
 Hi,
I disconnected my iMac from the mains last night when I saw the
 lightening heading our way.
When I reconnect this morning the Magic Keyboard with Numeric Keypad
 is no longer responding.
It is a USB wired keyboard not bluetooth.
The built in hub still works. The caps lock light does not come on.
The cost of getting it repaired (it is way out of warranty) would I
imagine be similar to the cost of a new one.
I can’t see any easy way into it but was wondering if there was any
hope of getting it working again. Perhaps a combination key press or
 some such thing.
I have another Magic Keyboard without the Numeric Keypad that I am
currently using. I am used to having the keypad and would like it
 back again.
 Thanks
