Enabling PHP and Apache in Leopard

2008-05-05 Thread Colin Gordon

Hi,
Can anyone help me with what's required to set up a web server using
Apache with the pre-installed php, mysql components in Leopard.
I've found a website explaining what to do, however it involves
editing hidden system files which I am more than a little dubious
about tackling.

Is there an easy / safe way to do this.

Here's the site I found:

http://foundationphp.com/tutorials/php_leopard.php

Any help appreciated.

Itunes problem

2006-12-13 Thread Colin Gordon

Hi All,
Recently Itunes started playing the following song overlapping the
previous one i.e. no gap between songs.
I've looked and looked but can't find a way to adjust the gap between
songs (not talking about burning - just playing existing playlists)

Any help appreciated

System dramas with 9.2.2

2003-07-25 Thread Colin Gordon
Hi folks,
Can someone help me here with a system problem?
I've just upgraded to OS 9.2.2 and now I notice I can't force quit
by applying sustained contact with the 'touch sensitive' spot on
the CPU (I have a G4 cube).
It just sends the computer to sleep (hitting spacebar to wake)
any ideas on how to force shut down with a cube running 9.2.2

Cheers

Multimedia in Acrobat

2002-09-15 Thread Colin Gordon
HI,
A client of mine requires a CD rom presentation and has produced his own
effort in Powerpoint but likes the idea of the cross platform compatibility of
Acrobat So he wants me to reproduce the presentation in Acrobat.
Its basically a slide show with a diffusion of one slide into the next with
music
(avi's) timed to start and finish as the slides change. It runs without input
by
the user.
My question is; does Acrobat have the ability to produce a presentation like
this which runs on its own from the CD.
I guess Macromedia Director would be the ultimate application for this job, but
its over the top expensive and too big a learning curve. Are there any Acrobat
experts out there who can shed any light on this?

 YES !

But, I had problems initially and as a consequence I keep a separate Netscape
user for access to Telstra. They supply a Security certificate which resides
 in the Browser user Preferences.

Note : Only Netscape , as Explorer is NOT available for Mac.

I am using Netscape 4.74 but any 4.7 version should be ok.
 ( OS 8.6 on a 7300/200 )

If you have trouble registering on the Net you can do it by phone,
after that you get emails etc to set up the Security certificate.

It's long winded and I really don't see why they use that way for security
when the banks can do it so much easier.

I have tried numerous times without success. I tried under OS 9 (.04, .1,
 .2.1) using IE 5, Netscape 4.75 and 6.1 and OS X 10.1 IE5, Netscape 6. I
just can't get the digital certificate required.
