Re: .xml doc

2007-03-30 Thread David Tapper

Hi Rosalyn,

XML isn't really an image format. The file might actually be what's
called an SVG file, which is a type of XML file that programs such as
Illustrator can open and save. I would suggest saving the file as
SVG and trying that.

On the other hand, is the file your working with meant to be an
image? If it's just text or information, then you would want to edit
it in a program other than Illustrator. Did you double-click the
file to open it? It might be that the file is identified as an
Illustrator SVG file when it's really just a text XML file.

You can edit XML files with Property List Editor which is a program
you will only have if you have installed developer tools (you could
find it in /Developer/Applications/Utilities/). Otherwise you would
have to edit it in a text editor such as TextEdit (this can be
complicated, because you have to be careful about changing the tags).

Good luck
David

Hi,

Can anyone help???

I am updating our website with a new programme, and it is proving very
complicated, (and more than a little bit frustrating!!)

Firstly what I need to know is how do I save an xml document in
Illustrator?

I can open it in AI but when I make changes it will not save as an xml
again, it converts to an .ai doc.
I need it to be an xml to get the info onto the website.

Hopefully this makes sense and the answer is simple
Any advice welcome!!
