2016-01-18 Thread Julie Bedford
Marcus
Just my two bob's worth.
I've used a couple of email archivers programs in the past and like yourself,
found it confusing to display the contents.
I recently purchased Mail Archiver X and cannot say enough good things about
this program. When one opens the archived file,
it is displayed as almost identical to the original mailbox, showing the
contents of your 'In Box', mail boxes etc. Also one can schedule
a time when to archive. I understand it also utilises Filemaker, if required.
I am ashamed to say I have some 35gb of mail archived, so
the first run took a while.

I have contacted the developers (who appear to reside in Germany) on a couple
of occasions and they have always replied to
my queries in a prompt concise way.

Hope that helps.

Cheers

ARCHIVING MAIL

2016-01-18 Thread Marcus F Harris
I have to clean out my mail box in which I accumulated thousands of emails.
I would prefer to archive them as some are useful records.

I used the “Export Mail” process and that produced a folder INBOX.mbox. It’s
2.8Gb
However, I can’t see how the contents —info.plist;mbox and table of contents
will regenerate a full set of email messages.

I tried re-opening the mbox with Text Edit, but it was garbage.

Am I missing something obvious or should I just buy “mailSTEWARD” ?

archiving mail

2010-03-31 Thread Jennifer Lefroy
Good Morning,

Because of a recurrent problem (delayed mail and clusters of non delivery
notices to various senders), my server may have to build a new mailbox. I
will need to archive my inbox and sent box. Do I use the archive facility
within Mail or will they, too, be deleted in the process? Will the
mailboxes On My Mac be all right? Are there any other safeguards?

I am using Mail 3.6 (936) on Mac OSX 10.5.8

Many thanks,
Regards,
Jennifer

Archiving MAIL

2002-09-09 Thread Tony Cockbain
I currently use Apple's MAIL under OS 10.1.5. Is there any way of
archiving old emails received by MAIL. I used to use Outlook Express
Archive when I had Outlook Express as my email program under OS 9.1.

Cheers Tony

You can go to any Mailbox (including the trash or sent mail) and select
all and then Save As (text file).
