re: Australian search engines?
Everyone may be interested in my recent experiences in getting our site http://capetocape.8m.com listed by various search engines. Yahoo and Alta Vista both wanted substantial subscription payments to list our site immediately, else I could wait 6 months for a 'free' listing. Even then, our site would not get its fair place, because these engines would give paying sites 'priority' in the listings. So, if you use Yahoo and Alta Vista you will not get a true search; instead you get a listing of the sites that pay the most. Google, by comparison, offered to list the site immediately, and a search for cape to cape publishing on Google will immediately list our pages. So, use Google to find Australian sites, and just add Australia as one of your search terms. So, use Google to find Australian sites, and just add Australia as one of your search terms. Or you could just go to google.com and click the 'Australia only' web pages radio button! I've found that adding Australia without the quotes to my search terms brings up the relevant Australian matches to my searches first.
