Camcorders and compatability with Macs

2010-02-25 Thread Darrel McGuiness

I am considering purchasing a camcorder and thought that a Panasonic SDR-H85
appeared a good choice.
However I would appreciate any advice on how compatible it, or any other, would
be with OS10.
My setup is Imac 2.93 and OS10.6.2

Thanks
Darrel

Greetings! When you get ready to download your video just plug your
camcorder into your mac. It will be ready to go.

Cheers, Joe

Re: Camcorders and compatability with Macs

2010-02-25 Thread Susan Hastings
Hi Darrell, its really a matter of compatibility with software, and iMovie can
handle all formats, including high definition AVCHD. imovie opens an import
window when it detects that you have plugged your video camera into a USB port
and its turned on.

There are lots of other things to know, but all video cameras (except JVC) use
video formats that are compatible with the Mac and Windows.

cheers, Susan.

RE: Camcorders and compatability with Macs

2010-02-25 Thread Crisp, Peter
Ok, I spotted this thread earlier and wondered if my Sony HDR-SR10E will
be auto-recognised by the Macbook (Snow Leopard) when I plug it into the
USB port - for the very first time tonight. I haven't even run imovie
yet on the Macbook. I suppose I have imovie - is it part of the standard
OSX 10.6.X suite? I think the Sony model I have is AVCHD format and I
was disappointed with using it on my PC prior to getting the Macbook in
December '09.

Will I need to load the specific Sony software or is imovie all things
to this camera?

Cheers

Peter..
