there was actually a report on newsradio am585 perth about the new  
search engine, it confirmed what some of you said, difficult to get a  
response because of overload did anyone tried a foreign  
language search??
no need for google to worry, google is in fields others can't go  
(google earth  more)

I found problems.

1. No side scroll or other way of movong down each page, so only got  
part o the results.


2. Seemed to be a lot of duplication.

3. The one limk that seemed to be of value was dead - failed to open  
page.

New search engine site

After the reading the article in The West Australian this morning I  
decided to visit http://www.cuil.com and try it out for myself. Not  
bad. Among the creators of Cuil is Anna Patterson, who was the  
technical lead of one of the two Web ranking groups at Google. A  
couple of other former Google engineers are involved as well. You can  
fin out more at http://www.cuil.com/info/.


What do others think? Should Google be worried?

Hi Peter,

no Google doesn't have to be worried yet.

Did a search on the same obscure topic and Cuil came back with 3 hits  
whilst Google cam back with 110 hits. I think Google is safe for a  
little while.

People must be hitting this site pretty hard Peter.
I just gave it a try and my search came back with this result ;-)

No results because of high load...
