Upgrading Macbook RAM
Hi all, I'm looking at upgrading my partner's Macbook RAM but am unsure what I need to be getting. Is there a site that shows the maximum capacity for RAM ? What information do I need to be considering? The Macbook's specs: Macbook 3,1 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 2 x 512Mb 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. Cheers! Re: Upgrading Macbook RAM
Hi Callum, www.crucial.com has a nice tool for this - you can install one or use their search tool. If I'm right, you can put up to 4GB in that machine with 2 times PC 5300/667 SODIMM chips. Re: Upgrading Macbook RAM
If you have a battery pack that is detachable on the back- I'm not sure what year your book is- lift out the battery and then you should be able to see three little screws that hold a thin strip unscrew them and there you have you will see the slots for RAM -they click out with a latch ground yourself on the metal first flick out the old and in with the new. If it is later model with no battery compartment then it is a small philips screw driver remember that the smallest screw is in the right place for a reason. unscrew all then the ram is easy to see- earth against metal flick out and push new in. tom samson On 28/12/2009, at 10:14 AM, Callum Prior wrote: Hi all, I'm looking at upgrading my partner's Macbook RAM but am unsure what I need to be getting.
