[WAMUG] IOmega ZIP drive
Hi folks, this is a long shot - I have a junk room I am clearing out and there is an old iOmega ZIP drive unit along with a stack of ZIP discs (14 of them - each 250MB). My Dad used it on his Mac’s many years ago. It’s junk as far as I’m concerned but there may be someone here who might want this either for posterity or genuine use. Free for whomever wants it. Zip Drive
After a clean up I have a ZIP 100 drive and a number of disks free to a home good or bad. I know these have been offered before but I have no idea if the offers were taken up. If interested please contact me off list to arrange pick up etc. Barry -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:wamug-unsubscr...@wamug.org.au

100 or 250 MB SCSI Zip drive + cable, wanting to borrow or buy
I need to transfer some stuff of a couple of very very old macs, system 7 8 LC¹s To get the data on to the users new machine I have an old USB Zib drive and some 100MB disks (thankfully I saved a few a month back when I gave away 40 or so disks and a couple of other USB ZIP drives) However the users old LC¹s don¹t have USB ports but do have SCSI so if I can borrow/buy/get given a SCSI Zip Drive (and cable... And power supply... Damn, I forgot the SCSI one needed a wall wart) this would be great. mark.sec...@uwa.edu.au Mark Secker (Ba. Bus. Hi Mark -- -- I have an old SCSI zip drive which you are welcome to borrow if you wish, but you'll have to blow off a thick layer of dust. -- Would you have a cable that would connect my old HP MP3 Laserjet SCSI port to USB or any suitable port on the back of my 20 intel iMac? If so, I'd be happy to bring down the Zip drive to Uni for you - I'm in Shenton Park. Zip Drive - Click of Death
Hi, Has anybody ever managed to get an Iomega Zip Drive revived after it developed the click of death? TIA Bill Chesnutt
Re: Zip Drive - Click of Death
I wish! I never wanted a zip drive in the first place and when I put the last disc in and it nearly ate the disc alive, I said, righto! That¹s it! Took it to my local service provider, who luckily was able to revive the bloody thing long enough to retrieve my data, transferred all zip disk data to cd¹s and gave the thing the royal order of the boot, straight into the tip. Enough! I use thumb drives and cd¹s now. Re: Zip Drive - Click of Death Again
Hi WAMUG'ers, Sorry to hear about people experiencing the 'click of death' from Iomega Zip drives. On the other hand I have been using very extensively Iomega Zip drives, in fact I own 3 of them and used another 3 at my previous work for many years (about 10 years now), without any problems. My original SCSI Zip is still working on my old Performa 5400, and before that it was used on my original Classic. Yes, that was many years ago. I guess that failures do happen and with data, just like with money, never put it in the same basket! Hence the importance of always backing up your data on different media, and also keeping a copy 'off shore'.
