email strange behaviour
hello guys a friends email 2.1.3 on emac ppc 10.5.8 installed has something strange with outgoing emails when i create a new email it goes straight away, when i forward an email (w/ attachement) then it goes into the outbox stays there sometimes for hours or days then suddenly it's gone i tried: changing the port from 25 to 465 changing to use password username when sending emails (as it is set in my macbook pro 10.6.7) because it's an iinet adress i tried mail.iinet.net.au also mail.m.iinet.net.au the activity window shows 100% send but stays with a blue striped bar, which may mean mail is waiting for confirmation from the iinet server the internet has an 'incredible' high speed (accprding to telstra) of 500kbps = 0.5Mbps cheer James SAD Technic U3 6 Chalkley Pl Bayswater WA Australia +618 9370 5307 mob 0414 421132 (international +614 14421132) sad...@iinet.net.au http://www.members.iinet.net.au/~saddas/ Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish. -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:wamug-unsubscr...@wamug.org.au

Hi James, Quit Mail, and in Finder navigate to your Home/Library/Mail folder Then to your particular email account name folder In there will be one called Outbox.mbox You can drag that whole Outbox.mbox to the trash. Open Mail App it will create a new Outbox.mbox Sent from Ronni's iPad On 12/04/2011, at 2:51 PM, James / Hans Kunz sad...@iinet.net.au wrote: hello guys a friends email 2.1.3 on emac ppc 10.5.8 installed has something strange with outgoing emails when i create a new email it goes straight away, when i forward an email (w/ attachement) then it goes into the outbox stays there sometimes for hours or days then suddenly it's gone i tried: changing the port from 25 to 465 changing to use password username when sending emails (as it is set in my macbook pro 10.6.7) because it's an iinet adress i tried mail.iinet.net.au also mail.m.iinet.net.au the activity window shows 100% send but stays with a blue striped bar, which may mean mail is waiting for confirmation from the iinet server the internet has an 'incredible' high speed (accprding to telstra) of 500kbps = 0.5Mbps cheer James SAD Technic U3 6 Chalkley Pl Bayswater WA Australia +618 9370 5307 mob 0414 421132 (international +614 14421132) sad...@iinet.net.au http://www.members.iinet.net.au/~saddas/ Patience and perseverance have a magical effect before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish. -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:wamug-unsubscr...@wamug.org.au -- The WA Macintosh User Group Mailing List -- Archives - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/archives.shtml Guidelines - http://www.wamug.org.au/mailinglist/guidelines.shtml Unsubscribe - mailto:wamug-unsubscr...@wamug.org.au
Re: email strange behaviour
Hi James, I’ve just found time to re-read your email and noticed that the problem you are having is when forwarding an email that already has an attachment in it. when i forward an email (w/ attachement) then it goes into the outbox stays there sometimes for hours or days then suddenly it's gone You need to forward the entire message as a separate attachment—so it’ll look exactly like it did when you got it. So instead of choosing Message Forward or clicking the Forward button, choose Message Forward as Attachment. Mail converts the message to a .eml (email) file, which most email clients (Mac or PC) can read, and attaches it to your outgoing message.
