Hi Neil Although, this doesn't actually get rid of it completely, if you don't want to see the icons for the things you use, this is another way to do it. NOTE!!! Re: iPhone app - Game Center ???
Ah Neil, now I understand your 'surprise' about 'Game Center' added in Software on the iPhone. You have never had a Mobile Phone, so have never experienced all the 'Tools, icons, and stuff' that are on Mobile Phones. I always had Nokia mobiles, prior to owning an iPhone, and they had 'stuff' on them I never wanted or used. I just hid them as you can do on the iPhone. Use your iPhone, you will enjoy the experience ;-) Cheers, Ronni On 24/09/2010, at 11:25 AM, Neil Houghton wrote: Thanks for that Daniel. iPhone app - Game Center ???
I'm confused... A new app has suddenly appeared on my iPhone - it is called Game Centre - I have not downloaded it and it doesn't appear in my apps section in iTunes - though I can see it on the iPhone when connected to iTunes. If I open the app it wants me to sign-in with my Apple ID account - so presumably it is an Apple app? - but why did it suddenly appear on my iPhone! I have absolutely no interest in games (either on my iPhone or Computer) - so I would like to just delete the app - how do I do that? Cheers Neil -- Neil R. Re: iPhone app - Game Center ???
Hi Neil, Andrew is correct. Game Center iOS SDK 4 includes the Game Kit APIs that allow you to create apps that will work with Game Center, Apple's new social gaming network. Your users can invite friends to play a game, start a multiplayer game through auto-matching, track their achievements, and compare their best scores on a leaderboard. http://www.pcworld.com/article/193896/iphone_game_center_os_4s_breakthrough_feature.html Sent from Ronni's iPad On 22/09/2010, at 7:52 PM, Andrew sprint9...@iinet.net.au wrote: Hi Neil I think it's part of the latest software update. Re: iPhone app - Game Center ???
Yes the software update (iOS4.1) was certainly required if you wanted apps on your iPhone 3G or 3GS to run again at a reasonable speed after the iOS 4 upgrade. Admittedly there were hacks suggested to solve the slowing problem just prior to release of the update but they seemed to be uncertain and unverified. peter meyer 0408 902349 pmo...@westnet.com.au On 23/09/2010, at 12:20 PM, Neil Houghton wrote: on 22/9/10 10:03 PM, Ronda Brown at ro...@mac.com wrote: Hi Neil Stuart, You cannot delete Game Centre. It wasn't required, and if you had read the documentation like it asks, then you would have known... Read the documentation next time... Lesson learned… Oh! A little harsh Ronni ;o) OK, I had missed that the Game Center was part of the new software, but the trouble is: • I really DID want the new HDR photography - so I had to upgrade for that. • In general, sticking with my current software and refraining from any further upgrades does not seem like a balanced response just because I don't want Game Center and I have no interest in games on my iPhone - I would miss out on all the other improvements features ( how many times, when troubleshooting issues, have you said make sure your software is up to date) It’s no big deal, I have just created an “obsolete” folder on an additional apps screen and Game Center is now despatched there – together with the “Weather” app that featured unrealistic weather forecasts (for Albany) from Yahoo weather (I’m now using one that uses BOM data) - however, I still don’t see why Apple won’t let me remove apps I don’t want/need – I mean, I could remove iMovie or Garageband from my iMac if I really wanted to!
