James One way through might be to use Bento. Bento will easily import .csv files, and it also talks bidirectionally directly to iCal. You could import your csv data into the iCal Events library in Bento, and the updates should automatically appear in iCal. Re: ical import/export
Hi James, There are definitely no hidden characters in the iCal format, it is an open XHTML protocol. Have you tried using some software to help with the import? I did a Google search and come up with these two products -- one free, one paid -- but I have not tried them myself. http://www.mmisoftware.co.uk/pages/icalmaker.html http://homepage.mac.com/penicuik/FileSharing15.html Cheers, Carlo On 2011-05-10, at 09:36, James / Hans Kunz wrote: hello Wamuggers i'm using ical to keep track of jobs done earlier times i used palm desktop i followed up numerous ways to import the palm data into ical, palm can export to vcal or it's own format (txt file) but with vcal i loose a lot of the info through the limits in characters per field i also tried: in ical create some events export events as ical, analyse the file in text editor add an event in text editor reimport into ical during import ical says there is a new event (which is correct) but fails to import the file question is there a reasonable description available how a ical file has to be formatted (hidden characters?) to be accepted by ical with help of a binary editor the palm data file can be edited to convert it into a csv or similar file, but ical does not import csv files???
