Ok interesting, on 4.10.x my device is using hid_multitouch like you had
stated, but on 4.11.x my device is using hid_rmi according to lsmod.

You said hid_rmi was buggy? What could be causing us to use hid_rmi?

how about adding a switch for disabling histerisis until things are sorted out?
Cause now the situation is recompiling libinput after every update :/ Anyways,
thanks for your work on this.

--- Comment #21 from bugzi...@colorremedies.com ---
Additionally I've noticed the trackpad input is honored an impractically short
time after a key is pressed. So if I'm typing, and just pause the slightest
amount within a word, suddenly the trackpad is active and highlights a bunch of
text.

What's more realistic is what's the fastest practical time from key release to
getting an index finger on the track pad. That time is maybe 0.7s. But for sure
I see unprompted selection happening in between key strokes. So the "inactive
trackpad while typing" rule is way too deferential to the trackpad.

[PATCH] wayland: fix xdg_surface test in move/resize drag

(In reply to Jonas Ådahl from comment #7)
> [...] Might be good to fix the miss-use error handling in move/resize code
> (it checks for xdg_surface, but it should rather check for xdg_toplevel)

begin_resize_drag() and begin_move_drag() check for xdg_surface being
not null, but those apply on xdg_toplevel so they should check for
xdg_toplevel being non-null instead.

Saved webpage containing graph

When you open this webpage, you’ll see a temperature graph. When you hover your
mouse above the nodes on it it shows the temperature. Start at the beginning
and continue through the graph while going slow enough to read the
temperatures. You will probably notice that during this time the trackpoint is
hard to control. At the end the trackpoint should have a slight to strong pull
back in the direction of the line.

I can reproduce this on Fedora 25.

[Wayland-bugs] [Bug 783343] New: Wayland: RFC - add shortcut inhibitor support

2017-06-02 Thread gtk+
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=783343

Bug ID: 783343
Summary: Wayland: RFC - add shortcut inhibitor support
Classification: Platform
   Product: gtk+
   Version: 3.22.x
OS: Linux
Status: NEW
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: Normal
 Component: Backend: Wayland
  Assignee: gtk-b...@gtk.org
  Reporter: ofour...@redhat.com
QA Contact: gtk-b...@gtk.org
CC: r...@robster.org.uk, wayland-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
 GNOME version: ---

The following series of patch aims at implementing support for keyboard
shortcut inhibitor support in gtk+

This protocol has been previously discussed here:

https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2017-March/033526.html
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2017-April/033638.html
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2017-April/033800.html
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2017-May/034130.html
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2017-June/034223.html

Note: This protocol is still under review/discussion on wayland-devel mailing
and may be subject to change before it's approved in wyland-protocol, the patch
posted here is for reference and preliminary discussions.

This requires the protocol to be implemented in mutter as well, see bug 783342

Thanks for the log. However, it doesn't contain the debug information :)

No big deal, it's actually easier/better to just provide a hid-recording of the
touchpad. Grab hid-replay from http://bentiss.github.io/hid-replay-docs/ and
follow the instructions for compiling from the sources if you are not running
Fedora.

Then provide a hid-recorder output of the touchscreen (run this as root).
