[Wayland-bugs] [Bug 104990] XPS13 L322X touchpad laggy

2018-04-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104990

@Sean
I could not have your tweak to work on my own laptop. I had to change it this
way so that it matches:

+libinput:name:*CyPS/2 Cypress Trackpad:dmi:*svnDell*:pnXPSL322X*
+ LIBINPUT_ATTR_PRESSURE_RANGE=30:20
+ LIBINPUT_ATTR_PALM_PRESSURE_THRESHOLD=254
+
 ##
 # Elantech
 ##
(only removed the "DellSystem" substring in :pn)

Maybe the dmi id was changed in my bios (latest A10 IIRC)

cat /sys/class/dmi/id/modalias
dmi:bvnDellInc.:bvrA10:bd08/28/2013:svnDellInc.:pnXPSL322X:pvr:rvnDellInc.:rn0PJHXN:rvrA00:cvnDellInc.:ct8:cvr0.1:

Maybe :pn*XPS*L322X* would be wide & precise enough if Dell guys change this
in a new bios release, e.g. DellSystemXPS[13]L322X.
Or lighter :pn*L322X*

[Wayland-bugs] [Bug 106044] Unreliable tap-to-click on a DELL XPS 9370

2018-04-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106044

Bug ID: 106044
Summary: Unreliable tap-to-click on a DELL XPS 9370
   Product: Wayland
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: Other
OS: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: libinput
  Assignee: wayland-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gonds...@techgeek.co.in

Created attachment 138836
  --> https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=138836=edit
evemu recording of a missed tap

I have a pretty new DELL XPS13 9370 laptop and using tap-to-click my touchpad
is missing clicks every now and then (like, 1 every 5 or 6). It happens a lot
more often with 2-finger or 3-finger tapping. I suspect this is due to the
touchpad recognizing my finger moving during the tap, but it happens way too
often to be normal (it NEVER happens on Windows with the same hardware and I
think I use my touchpad in the same way regardless of the operating system).
Attached is a evemu recording of a missed tap.
Other than this I'm happy to report that the touchpad works pretty well
(scrolling, palm rejection, accuracy...).

Hello, I‘m following Peter’s appeal in comment 39 to re-open this bug of the
sensitivity would be too low.
It is. ;)
I have tested 20:10 threshold and would recommend this as the new standard. A
tiny bit more responsive for me without any disadvantages. The mistake
heuristic of the Magic Trackpad is outstanding, don’t compare this with cheap
notebook trackpads.

As announced a while ago, we are migrating to gitlab, and bugs that haven't
seen activity in the last year or so will be not be migrated, but closed out in
bugzilla.

If this bug is still relevant to you, you can open a new issue describing the
symptoms and how to reproduce it with gtk 3.22.x or master in gitlab:

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/new
