a little help, please...

2006-03-23 Thread Priscilla
i am thoroughly enjoying the first 5 seasons of TAGS on dvd, but i was
wondering if someone would be so kind as to help out a little

a friend remembers an episode where a descendant of wyatt earp comes to
mayberry.i don't recall it and would appreciate it if someone might tell me
the name of it, and, if it's not asking too much, which season?

thank you all!!

i appreciate it, and bon suaer

What a coincedence - my spouse's brother and his family live in Sterling

Cheating

2006-03-23 Thread jlj9675
I don't think of Barney as exactly cheating on Thelma Lou since they were not
engaged or going steady with a ring or bracelet or anything of an official
nature. He was merely playing the field and perhaps she did too.

Lived in Alaska for 2 yrs. First a little village above the Artic
Circle called Kotzebue, then in Southwest AK in another small village
Bethel. I'm a huge TAGS fan myself. However after living there for 2
yrs you have got realize something. Most of population are natives
and their primary focus is on hunting, fishing another words survival,
not watching television. Things there are many times still done the
old way and there is a lot to be said for that. Sorry for being a bit
defensive on their behalf, but you have got to experience it on a day
to day basis to appreciate it. Johnna in Fayetteville Arkansas

maps

2006-03-23 Thread Kim
I was looking at that Frappr map to see how many Mayberrians had pinned up
North, and I saw a state right above TX with the initials OK. It was then
that I realized that I lived just south of Old-Man Kelsey's state.

North, South, East, West.

2006-03-23 Thread S. Burgess
I think Mayberry is a nationwide thing. I know we have fans who belong
to this club from most of the States of the Union. At least I have seen
messages from so many on this site. A lot of us in our older years
don't live where we grew up anyway because of circumstances. I grew up
in Ohio but have lived in Georgia for 30 years because of my husband
retiring from the Air Force here. We are all one big Mayberry family,
right? Mary Grace in Georgia

TV LAND awards show non-mention

2006-03-23 Thread MICHAEL CREECH
To answer your question on why there was no mention of Don Knotts passing on
the TV LAND awards show, I can only say that in years past, the awards show
has been taped about a month in advance. I don't know when it was taped
this year, but that could be the reason.

Re: MerleFest Update

2006-03-23 Thread Don Good
Jason Harrod,

I was looking at your website and see you've been on Arthur Smith's
show. The thought of that is sure a blast from the past for me. As I was
growing up in Hickory, NC, Arthur (and his Crackerjacks, including Brother
Ralph, Tommy Faile, Wayne Skeeter Haas, etc) was a staple on WBTV Channel
3 our of Charlotte. Is he still around?

While there's admittedly not much TAGS content here, Arthur Smith is very
much an Andy Griffith kind of guy! (There are some ties between
them.) Oh, and Mr. Smith wrote what became known as Dueling Banjos of
Deliverance fame, but was also played by the Darlings in an
oft-edited-out scene.

A Northerner checks in...

2006-03-23 Thread zumafan
Just joined this list a couple of weeks ago and actually my first real post
(besides the music I offered up) and wondered whether Iowa is far enuf north.
I figure our household can cover for the entire state! I don't think there's
been a day go by that my wife and I haven't watched a least one episode. We
have tapes in every VCR (the DVDs are in the living room machine).
Afew years ago we used to have a TAGS party every year for the folks we worked
with - they would choose their favorite episode and we would watch them.
We also got a half dozen sympathy e-mails when Don passed away - and even a
card!

Small World

2006-03-23 Thread John E. Saylor JOHN SAYLOR
On wednesday nights I work with the youth group at my church, which is in
Sterling Heights,Michigan. Last night one of our teen aged girls, who lives in
near by Fraser,Michigan, brought one of her girl friends from school to church
with her. The girl's name is Allison Krentz, and is the daughter of Jeff Krentz.
I spoke with her and told her how sorry I was about her dad's passing and how
much I enjoyed his postings. I regret that I never met Jeff, even though we
lived near each other, but I certainly did enjoy meeting his daughter.
