stairs

2006-08-01 Thread Paul Mulik
One of the locations that was used over and over for the Clark Kent to
Superman costume changes is the same alley where Otis is coming up the
stairs with his hootch in the loaded goat episode.

That stairwell is actually at the back of the courthouse. Those steps
obviously lead to the courthouse basement, mentioned (but not seen) in The
Luck of Newton Monroe. Otis must have figured it was a safe place to hide
his tranquilizer.

Regulars on other shows

2006-08-01 Thread Danny Taylor
John Dehner [Col Harvey and his Indian Elixer (Good for the HEAT)] was a
regular on Don Knotts' comedy show.
I didnt know this till the other day when I was looking on IMDB to see how many
times he showed up on the twilight zone.
He was on at least 12 episodes of TV Gunsmoke and at least one of the radio
version of Gunsmoke as well. Not to mention about every other cop or detective
show you can think of from the 50's 60's and 70's. The radio version of
Gunsmoke has two prominent TAGS alumni, Howard (Floyd) Mcnear played Doc and
Parley (Mayor Stoner) Baer Played Chester

TAGS fans,

As a semi-pro graphic artist (?) I am pleased to
submit my idea for a chapter T-shirt to commorate the
15th anniversary of WBMUTBB. To see my design, go to

the top of the page. (Depending on your connection,
it may take the image a little bit to load.) If the
club wants to use this image, I have the file all
ready and I won't make a charge for it!

TAGS Theme as ringtone

2006-08-01 Thread Martin Simmons
Greetings All,

I just got a new phone too and saved the theme song in iTunes. I could
not get it to work in my SLVR phone. I think I need to change the
sample rate to get it to work as a ring-tone and I have been too busy
to figure out how. If someone knows all the settings I would be
grateful. I think you can make any short tune a ring-tone can't you?
Considering that I am in a high tech industry, you'd think I would
already know, but ring-tones are not exactly high quality sound files!

Watching Don Knott's biography the other night, it was mentioned that the
Haunted House episode was the inspiration for The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.

I didn't know that.

Lost Found, Little Twin Boys

2006-08-01 Thread bcq145
Hello, Mayberry fans,

Laura Lee Hobbs was at home last night doing her best work with her binoculars
when I came over with the Digest. We discussed the Duane question about the
baby twin boys being left on the sidewalk while everybody went inside the hotel
to wonder about the Stranger in Town.
Now, today babies left out all alone might well be cause for police action.
But in
the early sixties and in Mayberry where everybody knew everybody else--or just
about everybody--and almost no violent crimes were committed, certainly none
against children, people would feel safe enough to leave their children for a
few minutes alone. After all, this is a town that came apart when a new person
moved in. Granted Ed knew their names before they were introduced, but did
any of you ever wonder why no one didn't just ask him before Andy did? (I know,
I know, we wouldn't have had a show if they had behaved reasonably.) But it
worked because these people were basically shy and set in their ways.

I was raised in a small community just like Mayberry and my parents worked all
day
(factory and field work) and just told my younger brother and me if we got
hurt to run over to our grandparents who lived nearby. We were left all day
long by ourselves and so were a number of other
kids. No one would do such a thing today. But people had a different way of
thinking then. I'm not excusing it. And perhaps most parents would not have
gone as far as ours did in leaving their kids to cope by themselves, but we
were too poor to
know any different and I have to say we all got out alive.
And as for me and mine...I watch 'em like a hawk.
Lydia, You don't suppose he's some kind of spook or foreign spy?
