Nursing Home Visit

2009-02-12 Thread Steve Cooke
Last night we took about thirty kids to the Hanceville nursing home to pass out
Valentines and visit with some of the people there. I would say in about every
8 out of 10 rooms we went to they were all watching Andy and Barney. We even
had a couple of kids notice it and say something about Barney when he was on
the TV. But everyone had a good time and lots of smiles were showing up on
faces. Happy Early Valentines to you and yours!!

RE: MAYBERRY GOES BANKRUPT - Nice Dress Nellie

2009-02-12 Thread Sue Doughty
While I was watching Mayberry Goes Bankrupt on TVLand last night I
noticed something. In the final scene, a convertable pulls up to
Frank Meyer's house while all the Mayberry men are standing outside.
In the convertable are a husband and wife who are passing through
Mayberry. The IMDB credits list Hal Torey as the man who is not
named. I had a couple of good looks at the wife. Even though she is
wearing a head scarf, I could swear that the wife is Nice Dress
Nelly. Could some of you trained observers check your DVD'S and see
if you think the wife is Nelly or not.

That is, indeed, Nice Dress Nellie in the car. Has anyone ever found
out what her real name is yet?

Bisse Bowman is one fabulous photographer and a wonderfully thoughtful
person to post all those for us to see. I haven't been to Mt. Airy for
several years so this was like a nice re-visit! Much obliged,

RE: The Green River Ordinance

2009-02-12 Thread Good, Don
the smile is Andy's way of showing Bob that he doesn't really care
about the legal details and rules through wisdom rather than through
legal mumbo-jumbo.

Yeah, sometimes it's better to go not so much by the book, but by the
heart.

The Green River Ordinance is a real case, involving I believe, the Fuller Brush
Company. The town apparently required a permit to go door to door and the
requirement was upheld. Sometimes it is cited in legal analysis in cases
involving pedllers, etc...

I didn't watch it on TV Land (we don't have TV), but from my memory of the
episode on DVD, I do believe that was Nice Dress Nellie in the car.
