'This Time Together' With Jim Nabors

2010-04-15 Thread BRIAN RODAHAVER
I was perusing through Carol Burnett's recently released autobiography 'This
Time Together' at the local WAL-MART. She devoted one chapter (albeit very
short) on Jim Nabors entitled, cleverly enough, Jim Nabors. (The chapter was
so small, I read it  right there on the spot!) In 1965, Carol viewed a Gomer
episode in which Gomer was playing guitar and singing to his girlfriend. She
was so impressed, she sent him a letter as a fan. She viewed their relationship
as a brother-sister one. Nabors was used as her good luck charm for the
premiere episodes of every season of 'The Carol Burnett Show' from 1967 to
1978. She relates that once they both played together in Las Vegas. After
closing the show with 'The Impossible Dream', Jim comes backstage to an
awaiting Carol and says in his Gomer voice I just bought myself a new
tractor! (in reference to his farming ventures in Maui, Hawaii.

Darlin Boys Speaking

2010-04-15 Thread Steve Cooke
I was watching the episode where the Darling's are coming to town to pick up
PFC Dudd Wash. When they are in the cell eating the white beans and they are
handing their plates to Aunt Bee, one of them says Bout to pop and then when
she is leaving you can see one say Night. So looks like to me that there are
two times I can tell that they actually talk. Does anyone else hear this and
is there any other times they say anything?

Loaded Goat episode

2010-04-15 Thread Bobby Williams
This is one of my favorites. According to the Mayberry Memories book Jimmy's
owner was Cy Hudgins. Just one letter off my maiden name, Hudgens. When Andy
calls Cy Hudg I always think of my Dad saying he was called that a lot in the
Army. He served in WW II.
