Two Chairs No Waiting Mayberry Podcast Recording tonight!

2010-08-16 Thread Allan Newsome
== Two Chairs No Waiting Mayberry Podcast LIVE tonight ==

Tonight, we'll be recording episode 97 beginning about 7pm central time.

I would like to invite all my Mayberry friends to make plans to join
us for the show and the after the show fun where we chat and visit.

After the recording of the podcast, folks stick around and visit like
they were on the front porch of the Taylor's house. I play Mayberry
style music or sound clips from the show over the live video feed.

Even if you don't have a high speed connection, you can join in the
chat room and visit with fellow Mayberry fans.

The URL below will take you to the page with both the live video and
the chat room. I hope to see y'all there.

Locked bumpers

2010-08-16 Thread (Ted) Theodoric of York
In the episode where Aunt Bee worked at the printers-when Warren and
one of the counterfeiters are trying to unlock the bumpers. The
bumpers don't appear to be locked. Was this a common occurrence in
older vehicles that had been in accidents?

Paving

2010-08-16 Thread Ronnie Morrison

Thankfully, they were able to pave around the water works!!
Guess there just wasn't enough money in Mayberry to pave
the streets as well!!

Double Alumni Sighting

2010-08-16 Thread PLV
Yesterday, I surfed into a rerun episode of Dragnet 1970 and found John
Masters (Olan Soule) as a Los Angeles County Court judge and Miz Larch (Maudie
Prickett) as a testifying witness, wearing a really dreadful hat that the
Mayberry matrons would probably have drooled over!

Wasn't Fred Walker's name mentioned (I think by Aunt Bee) in Ellie Comes to
Town before he was seen in Irresistible Andy?

Paved Roads

Maybe they used all the state funds on the blacktop for the sewer plant.

Besides, as we all know, during our lifetime, we travel many roads!

RE: Dirt roads in Mayberry

2010-08-16 Thread Harriet Browder

Well, they were slow in getting federal aid.

I too have noticed dirt roads on a lot of the shows. It could have been the
lot
was unpaved or maybe just Mayberry part.

Yea, they only had enough money for the curbs and stop signs.

Speaking of Aunt Bee:

2010-08-16 Thread Martha Humphreys
Aunt Bea would be
scurrying around in her cheerful way, singing, gathering up
leaves and twigs and making a scrumptious meal in a way
that only Aunt Bea could bring together.

Caught sight of Aunt Bee in Bend of the River, a Jimmy Stewart western. There,
she was feeding settlers in Oregon.

It does show up a lot -hotel ,school, the house Andy thought about buying, and
ken berry's office. I don't know if it was a popular thing or just part of the
sets they used over and over.

Mayberry Trivia

2010-08-16 Thread DAVID QUINN

In one of the black and white episodes, Aunt Bee mentions the name of a
fictional character that was, at that time, playing in a show on CBS. I will
give you an example: For instance Aunt Bee might have said That manicurist
Ellen Brown is as pretty as Laura Petrie. (And no, the answer is not Laura
Petrie). The answer is also not Gomer Pyle. I do not think Aunt Bee mentions
his name after he leaves Mayberry. So here is the question, what is the
character's name from which CBS show that Aunt Bee mentions in one episode. I
will give you a small clue, at the time Aunt Bee mentions the character's name,
the character's show was shown on Saturday nights.

Orville Hendricks - Peddling Butter and Eggs. No one ever mentions Orville
Hendricks name anymore. Except of course, my Martha.

Yes and I ever saw it pop up on other TV shows too, most notably in a
flashback episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show.
