Cooking Show

2011-03-05 Thread Ken Anderson
You all know that Aunt Bee had her own cooking show on the Mt. Pilot TV
station. Well, I am announcing today that I have made my debut on my own
cooking show. I have posted a short video of it on my facebook page. I do an
amazing chicken recipe. If you would like to see it just go to
www.facebook.com/kenneth.g.anderson and view it. You don't have to be my
facebook friend to see this amazing cooking trick.

May the Spirit of Mayberry Be With You.

wbmutbb-requ...@wbmutbb.com writes:

Considering how well loved The Andy Griffith Show and all things
Mayberry...even Ernest T...are throughout Alabama, I would not consider that a
wise way to get sympathy from potential jurors in Lee County, Alabama.

And if you followed the coverage of the Toomer's Corner fiasco, you'll note
all the Alabama and Auburn fans who came together in the aftermath,
Alabama fans even raising thousands of dollars toward replacing the trees.
*That* would be more like the spirit of Mayberry, in fact that might even make
a
good episode.

TAGS Alumni Spotted

2011-03-05 Thread Vern

When watching The Rifleman episode The Long Goodbye, I saw Edgar Buchanan.

Hew was Grandpa Fogarty.
He played handy man Henry Wheeler on TAGS.
On the same Rifleman episode was none other that Ol' Blue the wonder dog.

Small world.

Know what I mean,

Mr. Updyke

2011-03-05 Thread DAVID QUINN

Mr. Upkyke has been charged with the crime and has had difficulty getting an
attorney to represent him.
I guess all the attorneys were giving Mr. Updyke the Big Freeze.
The attorneys probably thought Mr. Updyke was an interloper.

Orville Hendricks - Selling Butter and Eggs. Know the difference between a
dead skunk in the road, and a dead attorney in the road? There are skid marks
in front of the skunk.

Mr. Updyke has been charged with the crime and has had difficulty getting an
attorney to represent him until a Mr. Threatt took the case. It is Mr. Threatt
who is quoted in the Times. Here?s the quote:

Threatt, an Alabama native with degrees from Princeton and Howard University
School of Law, takes offense at some portrayals of Updyke, one of which
compared him to Ernest T. Bass from ?The Andy Griffith Show.? ?He is not
ignorant, not a redneck,? Threatt said. ?He is not some sort of Andy
Griffith-type of character who would be hanging out at Floyd?s barbershop. I
 resent those types of stereotypes.?

Isn?t it ironic that Mr. Threatt resents ?those types of stereotypes? while
at the same time he is the one creating them by painting the characters who
hung out at Floyd?s barbershop as ?ignorant? and ?redneck?.

Hey, at least Ernest T. only broke glass. Glass can be easily replaced, but
130-year-old trees can't! I'll take Ernest T. any day over that scoundrel!

Another curious discrepancy

2011-03-05 Thread Susan Blank
OK, so in Episode #165, Aunt Bee on TV, she wins a boatload of prizes on a game
show. In order to pay the taxes on these items, she sells off most of what she
won. One of the items she does keep is her garbage disposal. Fade to Episode
#178, Lost and Found, where she loses Aunt Martha's brooch, and with the
insurance money, buys a garbage disposal. Why did they need two? Did Goober
break the first one? There were different writers for these two episodes, but
only thirteen episodes between one and the other. Seems to me someone in the
cast would have remembered that she already had one!
Curious..cuuurious!

Breaking the fourth wall

2011-03-05 Thread Paul Mulik
I've enjoyed this thread on breaking the fourth wall.  In case anyone is
unfamiliar with this term, it refers to the fact that a theater stage has three
walls, but occasionally (for comic effect) a script will call for an actor to
deliver a line directly to the audience instead of to the other characters on
the stage. The classic Looney Tunes shorts are filled with these; a
perfect example is in Wabbit Twouble.  Bugs Bunny has been playing practical
jokes on Elmer Fudd, who has gone to the mountains for a westful wetweat, and
after a minute or so Bugs says directly to the audience, I do this kind of
stuff to him all through the picture.

Anyway, this never exactly happened on TAGS, but the closest example I can
think
of comes in The Horse Trader, when Opie says to nobody in particular, If
honesty is the best policy, how come I'm out a cap pistol?
