Bookworm: a Game

2011-12-30 Thread Marie

Even playing an online game like Bookworm
http://www.popcap.com/games/bookworm/pc will remind me of Mayberry. I found
the word jailed that put me to mind of Andy Barney. The word toot
reminded me of poor Aunt Bee singing Toot Toot Tootsie, I even made pickle
fudge )Aunt Bee Thelma Lou), but but the one word I found that'll always be
Mayberry to me is uvula. Afer all, Iive got a uvula, you've got a uvula, all
God's children have a uvula. Now if I could only find medulla or
oblongata *sigh*.

Helen would enjoy this game; Goober Gomer not so much.

Mayberrily yours,

Marie M

Re: Hey Folks....I'm working on something special

2011-12-30 Thread Sue Doughty
Allan,

I really really really want to join the new website, but I am concerned about
having to enter my entire birth date on an unsecured website in order to be
able to join. There are a lot of dishonest people out there who try to steal
people's identities and birth date is one of the pieces of information they
need to do that. I am not talking about you being dishonestyou are one of
the most honest people I know...but websites can be hacked.

Can the birth date either be removed or be made an optional entry on the sign
up screen?

Hey Sue,

I understand your concern and I'm sorry but no, There is a legal
requirement to make sure that persons under 13 years of age be handled
differently than normal. (i.e. they must be protected differently)

Because of that legal requirement, I don't have any choice about the
birth date requirement. You can hide, and by default that's the
selection, your entire birthday from everyone on the site.

I can't quickly address your concerns about identity theft because
that is a valid concern but in order to be a part of much of what
happens online, folks will have to make that decision for themselves.

I have so much information out on the web that I really have no
expectation of safety so I've gone out and found other ways to protect
myself. (I use LifeLock)

I certainly understand trying to stay safe and continue to do my best
to keep visitors to my web sites information safe as well.

Each person will need to make their own decision and I completely understand.

That said, I hope most of you will choose to join in with us and
accept the small risk.

Regarding the concern about putting your birth date into the iMayberry
Community page, I justed used an obviously false date. I don't think it makes
any difference and Allan knows I'm not 86 years old. :)

uvula

2011-12-30 Thread jlj9675
Mayberrily Marie, the word uvula comes up often in crossword puzzles and of
course I always think of Barney and the choir too at that time! This is a
prime example of interesting facts we picked up while watching TAGS.

In yesterday's USA Today puzzle, the clue was Lewis Carroll's Boojum. Never
heard this anywhere else but TAGS and the answer was Snark after all! Found
out it was from one of his poems about snarks, a fictional creature. Don't
know about Grovely Barch or Brillen Trant though! Does anybody know these
names other than the spirits Andy invoked?

Birthdates

2011-12-30 Thread Ken Anderson
Regarding birthdate security, now I don't want to encourage dishonesty but
what I usually do is just make up a birthdate and enter that. I usually
make it a totally different year and month and date. Now I know that I am
falsifying and there is probably a number violation for that, but that's
what I do. Now you see why I am really a RFD guy. Realy Fake Deputy.
