North Carolina in Wisconsin
We had a fun event at the town where I taught for 30 years. Just as I parked the squad car in its designated spot I heard someone yell out, "Hi Barney". He appeared to have a rather distinct southern accent. When I walked over to his car he told me that he lived in Sparta, North Carolina for many years and he had moved to our area a number of years ago and bought a farm. So we had a nice visit about everything Mayberry. I knew when I heard him shout out to me that he was definitely not from around here and he must have been from somewheres else. Like maybe Canada. -- Ken Anderson The Mayberry Guru 2906 May Street Eau Claire, Wisconsin 54701 www.themayberryguru.com www.mayberryreflections.com ___ WBMUTBB mailing list WBMUTBB@wbmutbb.com http://www.wbmutbb.com/

Cat on the Roof!
Elizabeth, you are a BIRD in this world. But that's odd seeing that you have cat and all. Haha. Sharon in Florida This subject may have been discussed before but in a discussion with one of my cats (call me crazy) he wanted to know what animals were seen or mentioned over the years in Mayberry. I recall dogs, cats, horses, cows, fish and a possum. Are there any others? I explained to my cat the episode of a mother cat on the roof and he would not want to see his mother on the roof. animals
Opie had a pet lizard once and also Dickie, the parakeet. Two ladies in town went to hunt black bear once. If I wracked my brain, I imagine I could think of some others but I'm busy getting back to normal after that hurricane. No damage, minor booboos to tend to before resuming a regular schedule. With regard to animals in Mayberry ... I seem to remember the trees sounding full, plus the Lake Loon - so birds. Does Fried Chicken count?
