Watching a local PBS show "The Songwriters" based in Nashville. They interviewed Jim Weatherly who wrote "Midnight Train to Georgia" and "The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me". Mr. Weatherly was a friend of Jim Nabors. Jim got him in touch with Dick Linke and he was Mr. Weatherly manager. Danny Thomas was the father-in-law of Larry Gordon, Larry got Mr. Weatherly to write "The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Me" as an anniversary song for Danny to sing to his wife. The song "Midnight Train to Georgia" was supposed to be "Midnight Plane to Houston". Mr. Weatherly said that he was either talking to Lee Majors or Farrah Fawcett and she was packing to go to Houston to see family and that sounded like a song to him.
