Gomer in real life
My husband (Mike) has a friend who is retired on disability but can still get around. Mike has helped he and his wife in different ways so the friend feels he should do things for us to repay. Yesterday he was at the house stacking wood and it hit me, we have a Gomer! He is very nice and when we tell him not to do all these things, he says that's what friends are for. When I was telling Mike about it all I said was, you know that episode on TAGS, and he just nodded his head before I could finish. Mayberry vacation
My husband, our friend, and I were the privileged three who met Ken Anderson and his lovely wife last Friday. What a wonderful time we had!! Ken and Linda truly embody the spirit of Mayberry by their generosity, kindness, humor, and love of the simple things in life. Our lives are definitely richer due to having met these two fine folks. After the all-too-short visit, we traveled on to the Taylor Home Inn and spent a very welcome, laid back day and night there. While I had previously visited the Inn, my husband and friend had not, so part of my enjoyment was seeing the looks on their faces as they experienced the slow and easy life in Mayberry for awhile. It was a quick three day getaway for us, but all three of us agree that it was one of the best vacations we had ever had in our lives. Mayberry is a wonderful world.
