coughing and wheezing
Recent posts on zippo lighters and smoker's bulge has me watching pockets now! But let me make this assertion: I don't believe Barney was a smoker. In my previous post, I indicated that the character of Barney obviously wasn't a smoker due to his inability to smoke a cigarette without coughing and wheezing (to comic effect). I did ask whether anyone knew if Don Knotts was a smoker in real life, as this would be the only logical explanation for the persistent bulge in Barney's shirt pocket, but no one has answered that question. So, does anyone know if Don was, indeed, a smoker? I only ask out of sheer curiosity. His smoking status either way would not affect my high admiration for the man! smashed pennies
At work part of my job is to move railroad cars so I smashed some pennies to give out to my daughters and son-in-law to protect them in their travels. My great neice who is 3 years old was over for Sunday Dinner so I gave her one too and told her it would protect her in her travels. She forgot it and later that night her Mom Cindy called and told my wife that Faith needed to talk to her, she was almost crying and said she forgot her thing that would protect her in her travels. So my wife took it to her, good thing they only live about 3 miles from us. Moments like that are priceless. Merry Christmas to All Yesterday my VCR tape of Return to Mayberry came in the mail, I bought it used on Ebay It was a rental tape but much better quality than the one I recorded off of TV. Courthouse and tree
Just recieved my Mayberry Courthouse from Hawthorne Villages today looks real nice. This past weekend our Paulding County Historical Society had a festival of trees, so My tree this year was TheAndy Griffith Show I decorated it with some of my Andy Griffith Show Cards, I had to punch a hole in them to put ribbons on for hangers, Also had the show logo ornament. I made the star for the top look like a Maberry Sheriff's badge. My life size poster of Barney stood beside the tree guarding it. the door mat that says Knock real loud we're watching The Andy Griffith Show was on the floor for the tree skirt. I took pictures if anyone wants to see it email me and I will email the picture to you. the people working at the Historical Society said they had lots of good comments about it.
