I always thought it was interesting that they brought back the actor who played 
Trey Bowden to play Fred Simpson. Who knew Trey would grow up to be so 
self-centered, even changing his name!

Fred Simpson was also the name (not the actor) of the boy that Mary Alice 
Carter accepted a date from, after she already accepted going to the dance with 
Opie.  Don't you just hate fickle girls? At least she learned her lesson and 
left the dance with the right boy. And that's the last we hear of Fred Simpson 
in Mayberry...

"Andy and Don" book

Just finished reading the new book. It was very good. There is nothing in it 
about Andy being abusive to Don at all. It treats both of them with respect, 
pointing out that yes, they had flaws, but all in all had a deep and abiding 
friendship that helped produce one of the great TV shows of all time. I highly 
recommend it.

Favorite color episodes

Was watching the color episodes where Andy, Aunt Bee and Opie go to Hollywood 
and was wondering what the favorite color episodes were for people on this 
group. The Hollywood ones are my favorite.

Not sowee, but Zowee

I think Helen is actually saying Zowee, which is used to signify you are 
excited about something, but she is saying it really slow and sarcastically, to 
convey the opposite.

Sarcasm, saying 'sorry' but not actually apologising, mocking. 
 Note- Said in high-pitched voice, long, drawn out: ' Sowwy', can be 
accompanied with hand-gesture. 

 Gesture: Waggle forefinger and middle finger together, keeping fist and hand 
curled up near chin. Waggle fingers in direction of person you are 'Sowwee-ing'.

It is common knowledge, to Mayberry folks, that Andy and Sharon Despain were 
chosen couple of the year in both their junior and senior years of high school. 
 Well, a lot of water has flowed under the bridge since then and things have 
changed. Being that Valentine's Day is coming this Thursday, I would like for 
us to select a Mayberry Valentine Couple of the Year for 2013.  I watched a lot 
of episodes and I think I have selected some outstanding couples for you to

Question on Neal Brower's book

Hi all,

I was reading Mayberry 101 again and remembered that it says it is the 
first book of a planned three-part series. What happened to the other two 
books? Did they ever come out? The first one is great.
