Yet another special Christmas card from the Newsomes. Made me smile and relax all at the same time. That's a very good thing. I just realized that my last name is in a quote from an episode of TAGS...(ok, and I'm sure I'm going to mess up this quote). The tears on my pillow bespeak the pain that is in my heart. Hello Fellow Mayberrians, Had a great time at the first ever WBMUTBB online chapter meeting last night. As Allan, said, who would have ever thought that we would be able to get together in this fashion. Those electronal marvels are something! It was great to learn more about our Mayberry folks. And, with the video component, it's like having a digital front porch. I especially got a kick out of seeing the Floyd prototype that Allan had. Looking forward to more fun times. Adventure sleeping
Hello Fellow Mayberrians, We just got our power back on this morning, as we were in the area of the country that suffered the ice storm. We were in the dark (and without heat...an all electric house is great until the power goes out) for 5 days. It sure is nice to be able to read the Mayberry digest again. We camped out in our living room with our version of dogs, dogs, dogs and hunkered down to wait it out. Opie would have loved it, it was adventure sleeping. Glad to be back in the land of electricity. Hoping our neighbors to the north, still without power, get it back soon. Hello fellow Mayberrians, So sorry to hear of Pat Hingle's passing. I was lucky enough to meet him twenty plus years ago, when I worked in television. He was being interviewed for one of our news shows and I had a picture of him from his guest starring role on MASH. (Our station was running MASH reruns at the time, so I was able to get the picture from our distributor) I wanted him to autograph the picture because that was one of my favorite episodes of MASH (the one where they pull the April Fool's Joke). It tickled me that he couldn't remember the story line of the episode because he was such a busy and popular actor, he couldn't keep up with all of his roles. He asked me to tell him about it, since I had enjoyed it so much. Sadly, Mayberry has lost yet another friend who was lucky enough to pass through the friendly town. I also think I saw where Hollywood is remaking The Day the Earth Stood Still. I can't imagine that the message will translate to modern day. The movie provoked thought about the way people treat each other and I'm afraid a new version might focus on special effects.The original version had a more Mayberry feel to it. My Mayberry Friends, Once again our esteemed leader has created a wonderful Christmas card for us to enjoy. As usual, it is extra special. And, as an added bonus, we get to revisit all the cards of Christmas past. What could be better? Just when you think Allan couldn't top himself, he does it again. I look forward to these cards year after year. And, since I am not getting any younger each year, sometimes the Christmas card comes as a pleasant surprise, because I have a near senior moment and forget that it is coming.
