I was watching Dragnet this morning on MeTV.  Good old Burt Mustin was
playing a cat burglar.  Looks like he has gone to seed, turning to a life of
crime!

Guest Star on Gomer Pyle

This evening on Gomer Pyle, Parley Baer guest stared as a Congressman, can 
inspecting the Marine Base where Gomer serves.The congressman asked where Gomer 
was from, and Gomer said "I grew up on a farm just outside and itty bitty town 
called Mayberry." The congressman replied "I've heard of Mayberry, that's in my 
district. You are my constituent!"It's good to know that he knew where Mayberry 
was located.  But he made no mention of having served as the mayor before

Up and Down (and Over)

Where I grew up, in a small town in South Dakota that was very similar to
Mayberry, "Up and Down" was used only to describe direction.  Think of a
globe.."Up" meant traveling north, while "Down" meant traveling south.
"Over" was a bit more unclear..as it was used to indicate traveling east OR
west..as in "we are heading over to Myers Lake."  All of these had nothing
to do with the size of the town, or its importance in the region.

 

Remember: this time spent at home due to the outbreak of Corona Virus
provides a perfect opportunity to watch more TAGS!

Great Offer (Hyacinth)Two thoughts:1) I don't remember anyone in Mayberry ever 
eating Spam or bologna, or any other processed meats like that. They were 
always enjoying healthy home cooked meals, or left-overs.  . Do you recall

Colors - school, band, etc

My small school mascot was the "Cardinals"...so our colors were red and
white.  They later switched to red and gold.  Our band colors were always
black and white.  

Similar to Ken, I suspect that was to differentiate the town band from the
school.

Mavis Neff

My wife and I were watching Match Game this past weekend.  WhenI looked up 
Elaine Joyce on Google, to see what else she had done, I was surprised to see 
TAGS mentioned.  I dont seem to recall Mavis Neff, from The Authoress episode.  
I also can't find a picture of her in that roll on-line.  What can y'all share 
with me?
